Brown, Deloach shine at the plate as Gold defeats Purple in ECJV battle

SHARPSBURG-Zoey Brown and Ella Kate Deloach combined for four hits, seven RBIs and three runs to lead the East Coweta junior varsity Gold squad to a 9-1 win Thursday over the Purple team in a matchup of the programs two clubs.
The game was called after five innings.
The Gold squad took the initial lead of the game in the bottom of the first inning when starting pitcher Bella Waddell reached on a walk, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a single by Deloach.
The Purple team tied the game in the top of the second inning when Presley Burge drilled a 2-2 offering over the center field fence for a solo home run.
The Gold regained the lead with two outs in the bottom of the frame when Abby Wheeler was hit by a pitch and Keyleigh Gardner walked before Brown had a two-run single to right field.
Waddell followed by reaching on a walk and both runners scored on a double to left field by Deloach.
Ater a scoreless third inning, the Gold added to the lead with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Gardner reached on a single and Brown followed by drilling a pitch over the right center field fence with a two-run home run that resulted in a 7-1 lead.
The Gold squad ended the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when Deloach walked and Kylie Rozier followed with a single when Kendall Austin lined a single to left field thone hit , one at scored both runners.
Waddell was the benefactor of the run support as she allowed one hit and two walks while recording six strikeouts.


ECJV Purple gains sweep over Union Grove.

 
SHARPSBURG-Liberty McCaskill went 5-for-5 while Callie Mucha had four RBIs Wednesday to lead the East Coweta Lady Indians (Purple) to a junior varsity doubleheader sweep over the  Union Grove Lady Wolverines.
In game one, McCaskill had a two-run home run while Mucha had a pair of run scoring doubles in a 10-3 win while the former went 2-for-3 and scored twice in an 8-1 win in the nightcap.
The purple version of the JV Lady Indians will face the gold version Thursday afternoon in a 5:00 matchup.
The Lady Indians took the lead in the opener when McCaskill led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk, stole two bases and came home on a single to left field by Ariana Huber who eventually came home with the second run of the frame on a bases loaded walk to Reese McFadden.
In the bottom of the third inning, EC added to their lead with a three-run frame after two outs.
Aubrey Hodges scored on a double to left field by McFadden who came home on a double by Mucha and Hailey Reynolds followed with a run scoring single.
The Lady Indians added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 10-0 lead that put the game away.
Riley Jensen led off with a single and McCaskill followed by a lining a flyball over the center field fence for a two-run home run.
Presley Burge followed with a single and scored on a one out single by McFadden while a two-run double by Mucha accounted for the final runs.
Benefiting from the run support was Hope Stubbs who allowed one hit and recorded six strikeouts in four plus innings of work.
The Lady Wolverines averted a shutout as they scored all of their runs in the top of the fifth inning as the time limit expired.
Union Grove opened the second game with a single run in the top of the second inning but East Coweta rallied to take the lead in the bottom of third inning with a pair of runs.
McCaskill reached on a two out single and eventually scored on an infield error with the tying run and Aubrey Hodges reached on a walk before pitcher Zoey Brown followed with a run scoring single.
The Lady Indians added to the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Maliah Reid reached on an infield error while McFadden and Burge followed with singles before Mucha was hit by a pitch to force home a run.
Neely Easom followed with a bases clearing triple to left field and came home when a throw from the outfield went into the Union Grove dugout.
McCaskill closed out the scoring when she reached on a single and eventually came home after a force play.
In the circle, Brown allowed four hits and recorded four strikeouts in a game that ended after five innings.

EC (Purple) defeat Sequoyah

 

SHARPSBURG-Addy Adams allowed three hits and recorded six strikeouts as the East Coweta Lady Indians (Purple JV) defeated the Sequoyah Lady Chiefs 5-1 in a junior varsity game played Wednesday night.
The Lady chiefs scored the initial run in the top of the second inning but the Lady Indians responded with a pair in the bottom of the frame to take the lead.
Ariana Huber led off with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch before scoring on a single to center field by Liberty McCaskill that tied the game before the latter scored on a wild pitch.

Kaylee King added to the lead after two outs in the bottom of the third inning as she led off with a single and eventually came home on an infield error.
The Lady Indians added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Presley Burge lined a double to center field and after a walk to Neely Eason and a wild pitch, Adams helped her own cause with a sacrifice fly to center field.
King recorded her second hit of the game when she had a single that scored Eason with the final tally of the evening.
