SHARPSBURG-A nine-run third inning and a combined no-hitter for Addy Adams and Hope Stubbs keyed an 11-1 win Saturday for the East Coweta Lady Indians over the Taylor County Lady Vikings in the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament.
The win at home improved the Lady Indians record to 3-3 and will travel to Carrollton on Monday for a contest against the Central Lady Lions while the Lady Vikings fell to 3-3.
Adams held Taylor County scoreless through the first three innings while her pitching opponent Summer Searcy pitched two scoreless frames before faltering in the third inning as the Lady Indians sent 13 batters to the plate.
Keyleigh Gradner and Payton Wilson led off with back-to-back walks while Avery Batten followed with an RBI double that scored Gardner while an error in the outfield allowed Wilson to come home.
Izzy Kelleher and Reese McFadden reached on walks before singles by Zoey Brown and Abby Wheeler added two more runs and a 4-0 lead.
After a force play at the plate, Kylee Rozier lined a two-run single to right field and the offensive onslaught continued as three more runs crossed the plate.
The 9-0 advantage was enough for Adams who gave the Lady Indians four quality innings allowing despite allowing a run in the top of the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Indians added to their lead as Brown reached on a single and Callie Mucha reached on an error before scoring on a groundout by Neely Easom and a single by Ella Kate Deloach.
After recording 10 strikeouts while allowing only two baserunners, Adams was relaced in the circle by Stubbs who recorded a clean fifth inning by retiring all three batters via the strikeout route.
In the other two games played Saturday at East Coweta, the Lee County Lady Trojans rallied twice to defeat the Ola Lady Mustangs 9-4 while the Strong Rock Lady Patriots scored five runs in the third inning to defeat the Lady Vikings 6-4.
