SHARPSBURG-Kendall Austin, Keyleigh Gardner and Kinli Blair had RBIs to help lead the East Coweta Lady Indians to a 5-3 win over the Northgate Lady Vikings in a junior varsity contest played Monday.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Indians took the lead in the bottom of the second inning as winning pitcher Zoey Brown reached on an infield error to open the frame,
After courtesy runner Kaylee King stole second base, a groundout moved her to third and eventually came home after a wild pitch.
The Lady Indians added to the lead in the bottom of the third inning as Abby Wheeler reached on a two out walk, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch before coming home on a single by Austin.
In the bottom of third inning, EC added three runs as Kaelyn Bowen reached on an infield error, Callie Flury followed with a single.
Both runners would advance on stolen bases and score when Blair lined a double to left field.
Blair also accounted for the final run of the game for the Lady Indians when she scored on a single by Gardner.
The Lady Vikings rallied in the top of the fifth inning as Evelyn Lane reached on a one out single and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Consecutive singles by Laney Oswalt and Skyler Blackstock led to The Lady Vikings closing the margin as Sadie Lowe scored them on a line drive double.
However, the Lady Vikings rally came to an end after a groundout.
