Indians hit and pitch their way to win over Wildcats

MARIETTA-The East Coweta Indians scored early and often Tuesday night to support the pitching of Logan Frady and Daniel Smith in a 12-1 Region 2-AAAAAAA win over the Wheeler Wildcats that was called after five innings.
The win improves the overall mark to 19-7 and an important 12-2 as they prepare to face the Newnan Cougars at Joe Pope Field in a Thursday night game that will determine the top seed for the upcoming state playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats will take a 14-13 overall record and 7-7 mark to Smyrna on Wednesday to face the Campbell Spartans.
The Indians got on the scoreboard right away as Nico Senese lined the first pitch of the game for a single, advanced to second on a walk to Ryan Dyal and came home on a single by William Kelley.
Dekel Williams, who ran for Dyal, took third on the play and scored as he came home ahead of a throw from first on a ball hit by Landon Underhill.
Underhill scored the final run of the frame on a double hit by Frady.
Frady struggled in the first as he faced a situation with two runners on base and one out but recovered by retiring the next two batters in the frame.
The Indians gave Frady a larger advantage as they scored four times in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead.
With one out, Senese lined a triple and scored on a single by Dyal and Kelley followed with a double that scored courtesy runner Williams.
Kelley scored the final run of the inning as Frady aided his own cause with an RBI single.
The Indians were held scoreless in the top of the third while the Wildcats scored their lone tally in the bottom of the frame.
However, the Indians added to their lead in the top of the fourth inning as Caleb Cashion reached on a one out single and after Frady was hit by a pitch, Cashion and courtesy runner Pearcy advanced on a wild pitch.
Brayden Carey hit a sacrifice fly to right field with Cashion scoring and Pearcy moving to third before he scored on a single by Jeff Sangster who scored on a wild pitch to give EC a 10-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Frady retired the first batter and was relieved by Smith who retired all six men he would face.
The Indians added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning for the final margin.
