"Babe" Ferguson drills three home runs to lead EC to victory.

 
SHARPSBURG-Kylie Ferguson contributed a lot of runs on a night in which the scoreboard was not working with three home runs to lead the East Coweta Lady Indians to a 14-0 win over the Stratford Lady Eagles in a varsity contest played Thursday.

The Lady Indians improved to 22-1 on the season and will face the Westfield School next Tuesday at Strong Rock Academy in Locust Grove.

The scoring began in the bottom of the first inning as Ferguson had her only non home run with a single and after a stolen base, came home on a single by Olivia Cook.

Most of the scoring damage came in the bottom of the third inning as EC sent 12 to the plate with nine scoring.

Kenadie Cooper led off with a single and Ferguson drilled her first home run over the right field fence and with one out, Ashleigh Griffin doubled and with two outs, Kip Heggood reached on an infield error that allowed Griffin to score.

An error allowed Katie Taylor to reach, Kaliyah Matthews walked and Macie Wiggins followed with a shot over the left field fence to record her first varsity home run and the margin increased to 7-0.

The Cooper-Ferguson combination batted again in the frame as the former singled while latter hit her second home run of the game over the right field fence.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Indians were able to end the game as Bailee Echols walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Matthews.

With two outs, Wiggins singled and Cooper doubled before "Babe" drilled an offering in the same area as the other two to end the game.

Jaliyah Holmes tossed the first three innings allowing no hits and recording eight strikeouts before Hannah Stubbs retired the side in order in the top of the fourth.

Besides Ferguson's 4-for-4, four run, seven RBI night, Cooper went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Wiggins went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

SHARPSBURG-After seeing a 50-game unbeaten streak end last week, the East Coweta Lady Indians recovered to close their season with a 7-0 win over the Stratford Lady Eagles in a junior varsity game played Thursday.

The Lady Indians' season ended with a 17-1-1 record.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Maggie Stubbs singled and Madison Duffel walked before Mallory Lumpkins singled Stubbs home and a throwing error allowed Duffel to score.

Lumpkins, who advanced to third on the throwing error, came home when Karlie Guiterrez grounded out.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Duffel led off by reaching on a walk for the third time, advanced to second on a stolen base and made it to third on a wild pitch and scored when Guiterrez grounded out.

The Lady Indians added to the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning as Elizabeth Austin and Ansley Joiner singled while Duffel reached base via the walk for the fourth time in the game.

A single by Lumpkins scored Austin while Guiterrez followed with a two-run single to finish with four RBIs in the game.

Benefiting from the run support was Rylee Gordy who tossed a complete game in which she allowed two hits and walked one batter while recording three strikeouts.

She also received strong defensive support with plays by Duffel at short stop, Madisyn Weathers at third base and Shallyn Olszowy at first who recorded nine putouts.

SHARPSBURG-Ansley Joiner and Rylee Gordy combined on a three-hitter Tuesday night as the East Coweta Lady Indians defeated the Troup Lady Tigers 5-0 in a junior varsity victory that extended their unbeaten streak to 50 games.
The Lady Indians improved to 16-0-1 with the win and will face the Heard County Lady Braves Wednesday afternoon at 4:30.
Madison Duffel put the Lady Indians on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a single and two stolen bases before scoring on a sacrifice fly to center field by Karlie Guiterrez.
Jenna Helmly gave EC a 2-0 lead as she reached on an infield error and stole two bases before coming home when Riley Ratzlaff grounded out to first.
The Lady Indians were not finished adding to the lead as they scored twice in the bottom of the third inning as Duffel singled, stole second and scored on a double by Guiterrez and Helmly followed with a single that scored courtesy runner Elizabeth Austin.
The final run of the game came in the bottom of the fourth inning as Ansley Teteak led off with a walk and came home on a two out single by Duffel who had a 2-for-3 afternoon with three stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI.
In the pitching circle, Joiner gave EC four solid innings as she surrendered two hits and was able to escape a pair of jams as the Lady Tigers had runners in scoring position with less than two outs.
Gordy took over in the top of the fifth inning and allowed a single while getting a pair of ground outs.
    
EC defeats Troup on Senior Night

Cooper among offensive leaders in EC win on Senior Night

SHARPSBURG-Kenadie Cooper was one of several seniors to shine on Senior Night as the East Coweta Lady Indians defeated the Troup Lady Tigers 11-0 in a varsity matchup Tuesday evening.
The Indians improve to 17-1 on the season with games against Heard County Wednesday and Starr's Mill on Thursday.
Cooper played the role of leadoff hitter to a tee as she led off the bottom of the first inning with a double and scored on a single by starting pitcher and fellow senior Kylie Ferguson.
The beginning of a senior onslaught continued as Olivia Cook reached base on a fielder's choice and came home on a single by Katie Taylor.
After being held scoreless in the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians added to the lead in the bottom of the third inning as they scored five runs to claim an 8-0 lead,
Cooper reached on an infield error and made it to second on the play before advancing to third on a passed ball and raced home on a wild pitch.
Ferguson and Griffin followed by reaching on walks and Cook lined a single that scored Ferguson and Taylor, another senior honored prior to the game, followed with a two run double and the final run of the frame on an infield error.
Scoring continued to be the theme for EC as they added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Cooper raced around the bases for a triple and scored on a double by Ferguson who came home on an RBI by Cook.
Emma Elrod came home on a two out single by Kaliyah Matthews and Macie Wiggins would bring her home with the final run of the game with a single.
Besides Cooper, Ferguson had two hits as did Cook and Taylor. Cooper scored three runs while Elrod scored twice.
Ferguson was effective on the pitching rubber holding the Lady Tigers hitless with four strikeouts while fellow senior Mollie Peacock handled the final two frames without allowing a run.

The East Coweta Indians scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to defeat the Madras Eagles 6-3 and claim the Coweta County Middle School championship Saturday at Whitlock Park.

The Indians, who went 8-0 during the regular season, defeated Arnall 15-6 and Lee 15-0 earlier in the day to advance to the final while the Eagles defeated Arnall 8-2 and Newnan 8-0 on their route.

In the championship game, the Eagles scored first as Journey Jackson singled and advanced around the bases before coming home when Kaylee Woodring grounded out to first.

The Indians tied the game in the bottom of the frame as Payton Roberson came home on a two out single by Kylee Cooper.

Madras reclaimed the lead in the top of the second inning as Madilyn Breaux reached on an infield error and eventually came home when McKayla Carley grounded out to short stop Baylor Mikell.

East Coweta tied the game again in the bottom of the inning as Brooklyn Fisher singled and eventually scored on an RBI single by McKinley Johnson.

The Indians took the lead in the bottom of the third inning as Mikell was hit by a pitch, Roberson walked and after a sacrifice bunt by Addi Joiner, Cooper was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Brooklyn Fisher followed with as single that scored Mikell and courtesy runner Maddie Linden to give EC a 4-2 lead while an error in the outfield allowed Cooper and Fisher to come home and close the scoring.

Madras tried to rally in the top of the fourth inning as Gracie Lowe scored on a one out single by Breaux, but they were stopped after a pair of strikeouts.

On the pitching front, Roberson allowed four hits and recorded five strikeouts while her opponent in the circle was effective as Tyla Davidson allowed four hits with a strikeout that culminated a day in which she pitched in four games.

Two seemed to be the number for the Indians as Fisher went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs while several teammates reached base twice.

The day did not start well for the Indians as they spotted the Arnall Knights six runs in the top of the first inning of the opening game.

Gaby Gopie led off the game with a single while errors allowed Sydney Stubbs and Catoline Stitz to reach base and Gopie to score.

After Hailee Vance reached base, Aralyn Scarbrough had a one out, two run single to give Arnall a 3-0 while a walk ro Makenzly Greene was followed by a bases clearing double by Hayden Chaffin. 

The Indians came back in the bottom of the inning with five runs that cut the margin to one.

Hanna Monnin reached on an infield error while Roberson and Joiner had consecutive one out singles that loaded the bases.

A walk to McKenna Holmes scored Monnin while a two-run single by Cooper and a two-run triple by Fisher accounted for the other runs.

In the bottom of the second inning, the first two Indians were retired before Roberson tripled and scored on an outfield error to tie the game at 6-6.   

Joiner singled and Holmes walked before Cooper struck with an RBI single that gave the Indians the lead.

An error as well as RBIs by Monnin and Joiner culminated a 10-run frame for the Indians.

Roberson pitched two innings of relief that held the Knights with four strikeouts.

As for the Eagles path to the final game,  it began with Davison allowing three hits to the Cougars in the 8-0 win.

Kelly Nalin opened the game by reaching on an error and scoring a run as Woodring grounded out.

In the second inning, Breaux led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch before scoring on a triple by Katelyn Pataluna who came home on a two out triple by Carley.

The Eagles added a run i\n the top of the third as Macie Smith walked and scored on a force play and in the top of the fifth inning added four more runs as Woodring added to her RBI total with a two run single.

in her stint in the circle, Davison recorded eight strikeouts.

In the win over Arnall, Madras scored a run in the first while a triple and RBIs by Jackson and Woodring were part of a four run second inning.

A two-run single by Woodring was part of a three-run third.

Arnall scored a run in the first as Stubbs scored on a single by Vance and added another in the second as Aralyn Scarbrough scored on a wild pitch.

Davison allowed three hits and recorded four strikeouts in the game.

SHARPSBURG-Shallyn Olszowy and Karlie Guiterrez each had two hits and scored a run Monday as the East Coweta Lady Indians extended their unbeaten streak to 49 games after a 9-1 victory over the Northgate Lady Vikings in junior varsity softball.
The Lady Indians will look to reach the 50 game mark Wednesday when they host Whitewater at 5:00.
After pitcher Madisyn Weathers retired the side in order in the top of the first inning, the Lady Indians struck for seven runs in the bottom of the frame to take control.
Madison Duffel opened by reaching on a walk and stole second and scored on a single by Mallory Lumpkins who came home on a double by Guiterrez.
After a groundout moved Guiterrez to third, Jenna Helmly followed with a run scoring double but was tagged out at the plate when Olszowy reached on a double and took third on the play.
After Ansley Teteak walked, Samantha Whitehall delivered the biggest blow of the game when she drilled a 1-0 offering over the left field fence for a three-run home run and a 6-0 lead.
Riley Ratzlaff reached on a single and scored the seventh and final run of the frame and scored on an infield error.

The Lady Vikings averted a shutout in the top of the second inning when Jackie Burns drilled a 3-0 pitch to center field for a solo home run.
The Lady Indians scored a run in the bottom of the third inning when Duffel reached on an infield error and scored on a two out double by Weathers.
The game to an end in the bottom of the fifth inning when Carlie McElroy reached on two out single and scored on a double by Guiterrez.
Burns' home run was the only hit surrendered by Weathers in five solid innings in the circle who recorded three strikeouts in her season debut and received strong defense from her teammates.
In the varsity game, Jaliyah Holmes of EC won a pitchers duel over Madison Lumpp of Northgate as home runs by Kaliyah Matthews and Kylie Ferguson gave her a 2-0 win.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Matthews drilled an 0-1 offering for her solo shot while Ferguson struck in the bottom of the sixth inning when she hit one over the right field fence.
In seven innings, Holmes faced one over the minimum as she recorded another no-hitter and recorded 14 strikeouts.
Offensively, Ferguson had two hits for the Lady Indians.
In defeat, Lumpp allowed four hits, walked three and recorded four strikeouts.

"Stormy" Weather(s) hits ECJV to win over Newnan

SHARPSBURG-Stormy weathers has plagued the East Coweta softball program this season forcing cancellations throughout the schedules.

Thursday night, stormy weather came in the form of Madisyn Weathers as she reached three runs and had five RBIs to lead the Lady Indians junior varsity squad to a 15-0 win over the Newnan Lady Cougars and extended the unbeaten streak to 48 games.
East Coweta defeated Troup 14-4 on Wednesday to help extend the streak.

The Lady Indians took the lead early as Madison Duffel led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk and a stolen base before scoring on a single by Mallory Lumpkins.

Karlie Guiterrez followed with a single and Weathers drilled a double that scored Lumpkins and courtesy runner Elizabeth Austin before scoring on a groundout by Jenna Helmly.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians batted around as 14 batters went to the plate and eight scored.

For the second time in a week, Rylee
Gordy tossed a complete game for the
Lady Indians.

With one out, Maggie Stubbs singled and stole second before reaching third on a wild pitch while Duffel walked and stole second before Lumpkins was hit by a pitch and Guiterrez doubled to score Stubbs and Duffel.

Weathers hit a flyball to left field which allowed Lumpkins and Austin to score and came home on another Newnan error.

A two run single by Shallyn Olszowy allowed Weathers and Helmly to score aand after Ansley Teteak singled, Stubbs had an RBI single and Duffel had an RBI on a fielder's choice.

Benefiting from the 12-0 cushion was Rylee Gordy who sailed through the Newnan lineup allowing only a third inning single to Addison Smith while walking one batter, hitting another and recording five strikeouts.

Through no fault of her, Gordy would only pitch three innings as the Lady Indians won on the mercy rule in the bottom of the third inning.

Guiterrez doubled and Weathers followed by drilling a 1-0 offering over the fence for a two run home run and with one out Olszowy reached on an infield error then scored the final run on a single by Teteak.

Guiterrez had two hits as did Teteak and Stubbs in the contest.

The Lady Indians will look to extend the streak Monday at home against a Northgate squad they have defeated twice in close contests.

SHARPSBURG-The East Coweta Lady Indians junior varsity squad had a tough road Tuesday night in their doubleheader with the Alexander Lady Cougars in their attempt to add to their unbeaten streak.
In game one, the Lady Indians scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to gain an 8-8 tie while Karlie Guiterrez and Madisyn Weathers had three hits apiece to lead EC to an 8-4 victory.
The win and tie moved the Lady Indians' record to 12-0-1 for the season and extended the unbeaten streak to 46 games.
In the opener, the Lady Indians took a quick lead as Madison Duffel singled and with one out in the bottom of the first inning Guiterrez drilled a 3-2 offering over the left field fence for a two-run home run.
Weathers followed by reaching on a walk and with two outs came home on an infield error.

The Lady Cougars came back in the top of second inning with five runs to take a 5-3 lead but the Lady Indians cut into the deficit in the bottom of the third inning as Jenna Helmly singled on a one out single by Shallyn Olszowy.
East Coweta tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning as Guiterrez drilled her second home run of the game but Alexander reclaimed the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth inning.
The Lady Indians refused to see the streak end in the bottom of the inning as Olszowy singled, Samantha Whitehall walked and after Duffel singled, Teteak reached on a fielder's choice that scored Olszowy and the scoere was 8-6.
Guiterrez reached on a walk and after Weathers hit a line drive to short stop, Helmly flicked a single into right field that scored Maggie Stubbs and Teteak.
The game ended after a 90 minute time limit.
Duffel, who pitched the first two innings of the game had two hits as did Helmly and Olszowy.
The nightcap started in Alexander's favor as they scored two runs on the top of the first inning, but the Lady Indians rallied in the bottom of the frame as an error allowed Mallory Lumpkins to score and a single by Helmly brought Guiterrez to come home with the tying run.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians took the lead as Carlie McElroy singled and stole two bases before scoring on a single to right field by Lumpkins who came home on a single to center field by Weathers.
A solo home run in the top of the third inning cut the EC lead to 4-3 but the Lady Indians responded with a pair in the bottom of the fourth inning as Duffel singled and stole second before Lumpkins followed suit with a single that advanced Duffel to third and the duo had a double steal that resulted in a run.
Singles by Guiterrez and Weathers followed that allowed Lumpkins to score and give the Lady Indians a 6-3 lead.
The Lady Cougars scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the margin to 6-4 but the Lady Indians responded in the bottom of the frame as Teteak and McElroy singled and scored on a two out single by Guiterrez.
McElroy, Lumpkins and Duffel each had two hits in the game.
Benefiting from the run support was Rylee Gordy who pitched a courageous game and received solid defensive support including an over the shoulder catch by Lumpkins in center field in the top of the fourth inning.
Next for the Lady Indians will be a visit to Troup County to face the Lady Tigers Wednesday evening.

Miller leads Lee to win over Madras

Kate Miller reached base three times and scored each time Friday as the Lee Timberwolves defeated the Madras Eagles 9-2 in a middle school softball contest played at Whitlock Park.
Miller opened the game by reaching first after being hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error before scoring on a wild pitch.
Lee starting pitcher Savannah Chitnus reached on a one out walk and also scored on a wild pitch while Natalee Echols reached on an outfield error.
Savannah Crosby followed with a double that scored Macie Anderson and Echols to give the Timberwolves a 4-0 after one inning as Chitnus held the Eagles scoreless in the bottom of the frame.
Lee would add to it's lead in the top of the second inning as Tameia McFarland reached on an error and Miller followed with a single before the duo scored on an error by Madras.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Timberwolves added to the lead with three more runs as Ava Bennett walked, Miller and Avery Batten had consecutive rwo-out singles before Chitnus reached on her second walk of the game.
The walk to Chitnus allowed Bennett to score while Anderson also had an RBI walk ans Avery Lucchesi was hit by a pitch to force home the final run.
The Eagles averted a shutout in the bottom of the fourth inning as Journey Jackson singled and scored when Addi Black reached on an error with the latter coming home on a two out single by McKayla Carley.
The game ended under the time limit after Chitnus induced an infield popfly en route to a two hit, seven strikeout performance.    

ECJV start slow, finish strong in win over LaGrange

SHARPSBURG-For an inning and one-half, the unbeaten streak of the East Coweta Lady Indians junior varsity squad was endanger Wednesday afternoon in a contest against the LaGrange Lady Grangers.
The fear ended in the bottom of the second inning as the streak increased to 44 after a 14-2 win to go 11-0 for the season.
The Lady Indians spotted the Lady Grangers a pair of runs in the top of the first inning but scored a run in the bottom of the frame when Madison Duffel scored as Jenna Helmly grounded out.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians were able to take a lead they would not relinquish as Riley Ratzlaff singled and stole a base before scoring on a single by starting pitcher Maggie Stubbs
Stubbs second and advanced on a wild pitch before coming home with the go ahead run on a two out single by Ansley Teteak.
Karlie Guiterrez was hit by a pitch and stole second before Madisyn Weathers had a two run single to give EC a 5-2 lead.
The Lady Indians added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning as they scored four runs in the frame.
Shallyn Olszowy singled and moved around the bases before scoring on a wild pitch before  Ratzlaff singled and moved around the bases before scoring on an RBI single by Stubbs,
Stubbs would come home on a wild pitch and Teteak reached on a two out walk then stole second before scoring on a single by Weathers.
After three innings in which she allowed one hit and recorded three strikeouts, Stubbs was replaced on the pitching rubber by Ansley Joiner who made quick work of LaGrange with a pair of strikeouts.
The Lady Indians opened the bench in the bottom of the fourth inning as the straight pinch hitters were part of a four run frame that ended the contest.
Mackenzie Beasley led off with a walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch while four more batters walked to force home a run before Guiterrez lined a two run double to finish the contest.
The Lady Indians will play a doubleheader at home against Alexander on Tuesday September 8.

ECM defeats Lee to take over first place in middle school league

Payton Roberson seems to like the number three as she had three hits, scored three runs and tossed three innings while three others had two hits Monday as the East Coweta Indians defeated the Lee Timberwolves 12-0 to claim first place in the Coweta County Middle School league.
The win at Whitlock Park ended in the bottom of the fourth inning.
After Roberson retired the Timberwolves in order to start the game, the Indians sent the entire nine in the batting order and came away with five runs.
Hannah Monnin led off with a bunt single, stole second and came home with the first run of the game on a single by Baylor Mikell.
A single by Roberson and a fielding miscue allowed Mikell to come home with the second run while Roberson eventually scored on a single by Brooklyn Fisher
McKenna Holmes singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch while a two out single by McKinley Johnson brought her to complete the frame.
The Indians added to the lead in the bottom of the second inning as Mikell and Roberson reached on one out singles and each scored when Addi Joiner lined a double to left center field.
An outfield error allowed the third run of the frame to come home and give ECM an 8-0 lead.
More runs came in the bottom of the third inning as Denadia Colton was hit by and Monnin reached on an error and both scored on a single by Roberson who would eventually score on a single by Fisher.
The number two became the favorite for Fisher who was 2-for-2 at the plate and had two RBIs.
After three innings in which she recorded four strikeouts, Roberson was replaced on the pitching rubber but she finished the game allowing no hits.
The only safety of the game was by Savannah Chitnus who reached on a single in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the final run of the game came home as Kyle Cooper walked, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch before coming home on a one out single by Maddie Linden.
In the other game of the evening, the Arnall Knights had an 8-3 lead over the Newnan Cougars when lightning halted play after two innings.
Sydney Stubbs was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Hailee Vance was also 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Arnall.

   

Three game sweep at Heard County tournament runs streak to 42

base 11 times in three games and tossed a

one-hitter against Harris County.  

FRANKLIN-The unbeaten streak for the East Coweta Lady Indians junior varsity team reached 42
games Saturday as they took three games in the Heard County JV Tournament played at the school.

In game one, a 12-run first inning led to a 17-2 three-inning defeat of the host Heard County Lady
Braves, while a close game early in game two resulted in an 8-3 win over the Harris County Lady
Tigers and a one-hitter for Madison Duffel.

The Lady Indians closed out the day with a 17-1 victory over the Villa Rica Lady Wildcats in a game
that was called in three innings.

In the opener, singles by Duffel, Ansley Teteak and Karlie Guiterrez accounted for the first run
of the frame.

Madisyn Weathers was hit by a pitch to load the bases, then Jenna Helmly had an RBI single
while Shallyn Olszowy walked home a run and Mallory Lumpkins had an RBI single to give EC
a 4-0 lead.

For the second time in the inning, Helmly came to the plate and reached on an RBI single.

Weathers, Helmly and Olszowy followed with RBI singles to conclude the frame.

In the top of the second inning, EC did some two out magic as Elizabeth Austin, Duffel and
Teteak reached on consecutive walks to load the bases and courtesy of RBIs by Guiterrez (single),
Weathers (walk) and Helmly (single), the lead was 15-0.

The lead increased in the top of the third inning as Rylee Gordy walked, McElroy doubled and
consecutive
RBI singles came from starting pitcher Maggie Stubbs and Duffel.

Stubbs pitched all three frames allowing three hits and two runs.

Duffel played the role of leadoff hitter to a tee by reaching four times and scoring three times while
Teteak, Guiterrez, Weathers and Helmly each reached base three times.

The game against Harris County would prove to be difficult early after EC took the lead
in the bottom of the first inning.

Duffel, Teteak and Guiterrez reached on consecutive walks before pitching change was made and with
one out, Helmly drilled a two run double for the early EC lead.

The Lady Indians added to the lead in the bottom of the third inning as Teteak walked and eventually
scored
on a wild pitch.

The Lady Tigers rallied in the top of the fourth inning with a pair of unearned runs to cut the margin
to 3-2.

However, the Lady Indians got the runs back in the bottom of the frame as Lumpkins and Riley Ratzlaff
singled with Stubbs reaching on an error that loaded the bases.

Duffel followed with a two run single and after one out, Guiterrez and Weathers walked to bring
another run
home and Helmly recorded an RBI single during the inning.  

Harris County added a run in the top of the sixth inning but Duffel managed to retire the side to end the
game to record the win and finish with six strikeouts.

The final game was one of gradual scoring for the Lady Indians who took the lead early and
didn’t look back. 

Duffel and Teteak led off the game with walks with both stealing a base before Guiterrez hit a
sacrifice fly to right that scored Duffel from third.

Weathers followed by drilling a 3-0 pitch over the left center field wall for a two-run home run
and a 3-0 lead.

Saturday at Heard County including a two-run home run against

Villa Rica.

Villa Rica scored their lone run in the bottom of the third inning, but the lead became 5-1 in the
top of the second inning as Duffel and Teteak walked before a wild pitch and a single by Guiterrez
accounted for scoring.

In the third inning, the Lady Indians pulled away seven runs in the frame highlighted by a two-run
double from McElroy.

The top of the fourth inning saw the Lady Indians score five more runs as the Lady Wildcats committed
several errors while Weathers and Olszowy had run scoring doubles.

Starting pitcher Ansley Joiner surrendered a double to open the bottom of the frame but retired the
next two batters and allowed a single before ending the game on a strikeout.

Joiner allowed three hits in the game.

The Lady Indians will play again on Monday at Alexander against the Lady Cougars in Douglasville
and will host LaGrange on Wednesday.   

Miller paces Lee at the plate in win over Arnall

Lee pitcher Savannah Chitnus recorded tbe strikeouts in the Timberwolves'
9-4 win.

Kate Miller was 3-for-3 with a run scored, six RBIs and an inside-the-park home run Friday night to lead the Lee Lady Timberwolves to a 9-4 win over the Arnall Lady Knights in a middle school league softball game played at Whitlock Park.
The win improved the Lady Timberwolves record to 2-0 on the season while the Lady Knights fell to 0-2.
After a scoreless first inning, Lee got on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning as Kaylee Mills and Savanna Crosby reached on consecutive singles and advanced on a groundout hit by Tameia McFarland.
Mills came home on a single by Avery Luchessi and Crosby scored on a single by Miller for the Lady Timberwolves runs in the frame.
Lee added a run in the top of the third inning as starting pitcher Savannah Chitnus scored on an infield error.
Chitnus retired the first seven Arnall batters before surrendering a single in the bottom of the third inning to Hayden Chaffin who eventually scored on a wild pitch.
The other run of the inning for the Lady Knights came as Peyton Mayo walked and eventually scored on a groundout to cut the margin to 3-2.
The Lady Timberwolves got the runs back in the top of the fourth inning as Luchessi reached on a error, Natalee Echols walked and Miller followed with a line shot to straightaway center field for a three-run inside-the-park home run.
In the top of the fifth inning, Lee added to the lead as Echols and Miller each had a RBI single in a three-run frame to increase the advantage to 9-2.
The Lady Knights rallied in the bottom of the frame as pitcher McKayla Carley tripled and came home on a throwing error while another run scored on an infield error.
After a single, Chitnis recovered to induce a popup to end the game.
In pitching five innings, Chtnis recorded seven strikeouts.

McKinley Johnson had five strikeouts for East Coweta.

Earlier in the day, all of the runs came in the first inning but it was enough for the East Coweta Lady Indians who improved to 3-0 with a 13-2 win over the Madras Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles took the lead in the top of the first inning as Journey Jackson and Gracie Lowe had RBI groundouts.
In the bottom of the inning, the Lady Indians tied the game at 2-2 on a two-run double by Payton Roberson who scored the lead run on a sacrifice by Brooklyn Fisher.
Among the other highlights of the inning were an RBI single by Baylor Mikell and a two-run double by Kylee Cooper.
The rest of the game was pitching as EC starter McKinley Johnson retired nine of ten batters and recorded five strikeouts.

Roberson, Mikell record hat trick in hits to lead ECM to win.

Three was the magic number for Payton Roberson and Baylor Mikell on Thursday as the East Coweta Lady Indians faced the Arnall Lady Knights in a middle softball game at Whitlock Park.

Both had three hits, while Roberson scored three runs and drove home three runs and Mikell scored once and had two RBIs in a 16-0 win over the Lady Knights.

The game improved their record to 2--0 with a game scheduled for Friday at 6:00 against Madras.

The Lady Indians scored early as Roberson and Baylor Mikell reached on singles before scoring on a single by Brooklyn Fisher.

A single by Addie Joiner followed and a sacrifice by Hannah Monnin resulted in two runs coming home.

After two outs, Cam Cassie reached on an infield single and McKenley Johnson walked before Roberson batted for the second time in the top of the first and scorched a triple that resulted in the aforementioned to with Mikell closing out the scoring with an RBI single.

The beneficiary of the run support was starter McKenna Holmes who walked the first Lady Knight but was able to get a double play and a strikeout in the bottom of the frame.

East Coweta threatened to add to the lead with two outs in the top of the second inning as Kylie Cooper reached on an infield error and Holmes and Johnson were hit by consecutive pitches but Johnson was caught off base and was picked off.

Meanwhile, Holmes was pitching solidly in the circle and receiving solid defense behind her including a line drive caught by Mikell at shortstop who threw to second for a double play.

AFter EC was held scoreless in the top of the third inning, Holmes did the same to Arnall as she allowed a single to Mackenly Greene before retiring the next three on strikeouts.

The Lady Indians added to the lead in the top of the fourth inning with an eight-run frame that was highlighted by a two-run single by Holmes and RBI singles by Roberson and Mikell.

In the bottom of the frame, the Lady Knights had the bases loaded but Holmes was able to end the game by recording her sixth strikeout.

SHARPSBURG-The East Coweta Lady Indians had to work hard Saturday in order to increase their unbeaten streak to 37 as they competed in the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament's junior varsity event.
In game one, a single by Jenna Helmly led to the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning as they came from behind to defeat the Northgate Lady Vikings 4-3 while Madison Duffle tossed a four-hitter as the Lady Indians defeated the Ola Lady Mustangs 2-0.

Mallory Lumpkins led off with a double and with two outs, Ansley Teteak was hit by a pitch and Shallyn Olszowy followed with a single that scored Lumpkins.
Helmly came to the plate and on the first pitch she received from pitcher Jackie Burns lined a single that brought Teteak home with the winning run as time expired.
The Lady Vikings took the lead in the top of the first as Indians (4-0) as Kaylee Landreau single and moved to second on a sacrifice by Addie Mease before scoring when a single by Burns was misplayed in the outfield.
The Lady Indians got on the bosrd in the bottom of the third inning as Madison Duffle reached on a leadoff double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Lumpkins and scored on a dropped sacrifice fly hit by Karlie Guiterrez who came home when Teteak grounded out.
Northgate tied the game in the top of the fourth inning when Harmony Jackson reached on a walk and scored when a single by Makenna Cole was mishandled.
The Lady Vikings took the lead in the top of the fifth inning as Mease reached on a two out walk and scored on a double by Jena Sechrest.
Rylee Gordy tossed a solid five innings allowing four hits and three runs while Burns pitched well in a tough loss allowing seven hits in the game.

Duffle led the way offensively for East Coweta with two doubles and a run scored Sechrest reached twice and scored a run for Northgate.
In the Ola game, EC took the lead in the bottom of the first inning as Duffle aided her own cause by reaching first on a walk, stole second and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Lumpkins before scoring on a single by Guiterrez.
Ola miscues led to the second run as Guiterrez moved to second on a wild pitch and two errors allowed her to come home with the game's only other tally.
Meanwhile, Duffle gave the Lady Indians five solid innings in the circle allowing four hits while getting solid defense behind her.
Guiterrez, who has shown a knack for getting hit by a pitch and recording a hit in the same game, had each in the contest while Duffle walked twice while Olszowy, Maggie Stubbs and Teteak each had a hit.
The Lady Indians will play again on Wednesday the 26th when they travel to North Paulding for a doubleheader against the Wolfpack in a doubleheader.

Guiterrez, Lumpkins lead ECJV to win, extend streak to 35

SHARPSBURG-In her career at East Cowets, catcher Karlie Guiterrez either has hit the ball or has been hit by the yellow sphere and Friday was no different.
Guiterrez was hit by a pitch and hit a two run home run as the Lady Indians defeated the Whitewater Lady Wildcats 8-0 in the Georgia Dugout Club junior varsity tournament.
The victory which took five innings, extended the Lady Indians unbeaten string to 35 games.
After winning pitcher Maggie Stubbs retired the sidee in order in the top of the first inning, her teammates scored three times to give her a lead that she never surrendered.
With one out, Mallory Lumpkins singled and reached third on a throwing error while in this at bat Guiterrez was hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count.
Lumpkins was 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored, an RBI and a stellar catch.

Teteak went 2-for-2 with a walk, and RBI and a runs scored.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians added to the lead with another three spot as Riley Ratzlaff singled and scored on a double by Jenna Helmly.
Helmly scored on a single by Madison Duffle who doubled and scored on a single by Lumpkins.

The bottom of the fourth inning saw the Lady Indians add to the cushion as Lumpkins reached on a walk and instead of getting hit, Guiterrez had a hit as she lined a shot over the left field fence for a two-run home run.
The advantage was enough for Stubbs who allowed four hits through five innings and received stellar defense behind her including a diving catch by Lumpkins in the top of the fifth inning.
OLA 7, Whitewater 7. The Lady Wildcats came back from a 7-0 deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning to gain a 7-7 tie with the Ola Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Mistangs scored three runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead, added three more in the top of the third inning and a single run in the fourth.
Jaylen Hope pitched the first three frames for Ola allowing no hits.
OLA 1. NORTHGATE 0, The Lady Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Emily Carter for the only tally of the game.
Hope worked five solid innings for Ola allowing one hit. Savannah Dickman also pitched well in four innings for Northgate allowing three hits with four strikeouts.
The tournament will resume Saturday as follows:
