Aniston Wright held the Heard County Lady Braves to
four hits and one run while recording in a 6-1 win.

FRANKLIN-After an efficient outing on Monday at Newnan, East Coweta senior Aniston Wright had no trouble Wednesday against Heard County as she limited the Lady Braves four hits while recording seven strikeouts in a 6-1 non-region win over the Lady Braves.
The Lady Indians, who will close the regular season Thursday evening against the Union Grove Wolverines, improved to 24-0 on the season while the Lady Braves fell to 19-6.
The Lady Indians took the lead at the start of the game as Lilly Agan led off by reaching on an infield single and after stealing second advanced to third on a throwing error before scoring when Kylie Ferguson grounded out to first.
Ferguson’s RBI appeared to be enough for Wright who surrendered a single to the leadoff batter in the bottom of the first inning before retiring the next nine batters.
However, the Lady Indians gave her some more run support with three runs in the top of the third inning.
With one out, Agan reached on a single and Kenadie Cooper reached on a two single to set the stage for senior Ansley Gunter.
As the case has been in the past, Gunter left no doubt as she responded by drilling a 1-1 offering against the fence in left field for a two-run double before scoring on a double by Ashleigh Griffin and the lead was 4-0.
Meanwhile, Wright surrendered a single to open the bottom of the fourth inning but recovered quickly as she retired the next seven batters including all three in the fourth inning.
As solid as Wright was on the rubber, Gunter proved to be the same at the plate as she drilled a 1-1 offering over a high fence in left center field for a two-run home run with Agan scoring ahead of her.
Gunter was 2-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs while Agan was 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and would have been perfect had she not have an extra base hit taken away on a catch by the Lady Braves’ right fielder in the top of the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Wright would sandwich two hits and the lone run between outs but still had little difficulty as she recorded two of her strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Olszowy provides pitching while Guiterrez and Echols provided power in ECJV win, unbeaten streak now at 48

Bricyn Olszowy looks on as his sister Shallyn
pitches in Wednesday's 9-0 win over Heard County.

FRANKLIN-Shallyn Olszowy held the Heard County Lady Braves to three hits while the East Coweta Lady Indians scored eight runs in the fourth inning to come away with a 9-0 victory in a junior varsity contest played Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Indians, who host the Northgate Lady Indians in a Thursday afternoon finale, extended their unbeaten streak to 48 games as they improved to 15-0-1 on the season.
After both teams went down in order to open the contest, EC got on the scoreboard first as Karlie Guiterrez was able to drill an offering over a high fence for a solo home run with two outs in the top of the second.
The only trouble Olszowy would have was in the bottom of the second inning as she surrendered back-to-back singles after one out, but a play in which the Heard runner was called out for leaving first base followed by a flyball to left field ended the frame.
The Lady Indians would do their main damge in the top of the fourth inning as they sent 11 batters to the plate and scored eight times.
With out, Kip Heggood lined a double to left center field and moved to third on a wild pitch before Olszowy reached on a walk and Guiterrez followed with a two-run single.
Walks to Hannah Stubbs and Mallory Lumpkins loaded the bases for Ansley Teteak who had an RBI single.
After a sacrifice fly by Alex Mongiove, Bailee Echols put the final nail on the Heard County coffin with a three-run home run.
That was more than enough for Olszowy who retired the Lady Braves in order and ending the four inning with her third strikeout of the game.

Another dominating effort by Jaliyah Holmes as she limits Northgate to

With one out, Ansley Gunter hit a solo home run and Griffin followed by hitting a single, stole second base and scored on a two our single by Lively.
Lively was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Lady Indians.
After a silent fourth inning, the Lady Indians came back in the top of the fifth inning with five runs to account for the final margin.
After Gunter led off with a walk, a pitching change was made with Griffin coming to the plate.
Griffin would reach on an infield error and Katie Taylor to load the bases for Olivia Cook who would reach on a walk that scored a run as pinch runner Hanna Miller came home.
A double play scored Griffin and Ansley Duffey followed with an RBI single and advanced to second on an error.
A triple by Lilly Agan scored pinch runner Macie Wiggins and in field error scored Agan and allowed Ferguson to reach.
The margin was more than enough for Holmes as she retired 12 in a row after hitting Kent in the first.
The string ended as Fran Lumpp singled and with one out singled but Holmes overcame the situation and the heat by getting Anna Baldwin to hit a line drive to Cook at third who dove to the bag for a double play that ended the game.

Kylie Ferguson had a strongFriday night at Home Plate as she helped lead East Coweta
in wins over Starr's Mill and Hampton. The junior had four hits, scored three runs and had an RBI
PEACHTREE CITY-Kylie Ferguson definitely earned the position “Designated Player” as the junior had an impact on two games Friday night in wins for the East Coweta Lady Indians over Starr’s Mill and Hampton at the Home Plate baseball complex.
In game one, Ansley Gunter lined a single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning that scored Ferguson from third to give the Lady Indians a 3-2 victory over the Starr's Mill Lady Panthers.
In the second game, Ferguson had two hits, scored two runs and had an RBI in a 5-3 win over the Hampton Lady Hornets.
The two wins gave the Lady Indians an 11-0 record with road games against the Northgate Lady Vikings on Monday and the Whitewater Lady Wildcats on Wednesday.
In the opening game, losing pitcher Lillie Backes retired the two first two batters of the frame and Ferguson followed by lining a single to center field.

Against Starr's Mill and Hampton, Jaliyah Holmes recorded 13 strikeouts
in eight and two-third innings in the  pitching circle..
A stolen base and an advancement to third on a groundout allowed Gunter to come to plate and on a 3-2 offering, the senior first baseman dunked a single in front of the center fielder for the winning run.
The Lady Indians took the lead with two outs in the bottom of the third inning as Lilly Agan singled and advanced to second on an error before scoring ahead of a double by Ferguson who would score the second run on a double by Kenadie Cooper.
That would be the only dent for Backes who had EC batters baffled as she recorded 13 strikeouts in the game and allowed seven hits.
Meanwhile, Jaliyah Holmes was in control for the Lady Indians as she was breezing through the first six innings as she recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed two hits in that span.
However, Holmes began to have problems in the top of the seventh after retiring the first batter Paige Andrews walked and Reagan Turner followed with a single.
Kalin Blinstrub doubled and Julia singled to tie the game at 2-2 before Holmes was replaced by Aniston Wright.
Wright got out of further trouble by retiring Ashley Sikes on strikes to end the inning.
In the top of the eighth inning, Wright showed mental toughness as she faced two runners on base with one out.
A flyball to Agan in center field and a swinging strikeout would strand the runner and give the Lady Indians a chance to win.
In the second game, the Lady Indians scored twice in the bottom of the first inning as Cooper Image may contain: 1 person, playing a sport, baseball and outdoorImage may contain: 1 person, playing a sport, baseball and outdoorImage may contain: 1 person, playing a sport, baseball and outdoorreached on a two out double and came around with the first run as the result of a pair of wild pitchImage may contain: 1 person, playing a sport, baseball and outdoores.
Gunter walked and scored the second run of the frame on a double by Ashleigh Griffin.
Griffin went 2-for-3 at the plate against the Lady Hornets.
The Lady Indians added to the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Caroline Lively was hit by a pitch and after the second out of the frame was recorded, Agan hit a single to left field that scored courtesy runner Eliza Kuhne who had stolen second base.

Aniston Wright was the winning pitcher in both games at Home Plate.
She pitched an inning and one-third in relief against Starr's Mill
and tossed five innings in a quality start against Hampton.
An error by the Hampton left fielder allowed Agan to advance around the bases to third and eventually score on a double by Ferguson.
The Lady Hornets cut into the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning but a pair of force plays to Lady Indian third baseman Olivia Cook negated a larger rally.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ferguson was “designated” to help the offense as she reached on a leadoff single then stole second before a pair of wild pitches brought her home.
Through five innings, Wright was giving EC quality innings but was running out of gas in the top of the sixth inning as she surrendered a leadoff double to Makenzie Sapp in the top of the sixth before she was replaced by Holmes.
Sapp would steal third and on the lay, the ball was mishandled allowing an unearned run to score but Holmes was unfazed as retired the side on strikeouts.
Holmes would retire the side in order in the top of the seventh inning to record the save and give Wright her second victory of the day.
Starr’s Mill 7, Hampton 6
The Lady Panthers recovered in a win over the Lady Hornets despite the efforts of Skylar Trahan who recorded her 500th career strikeout and hit a two-run home run.
Starr’s Mill scored twice in the top of the first, once in the second and once in the third before Hampton scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Lady Panthers scored twice in the top of the sixth inning but the Lady Hornets came back in the bottom of the frame when Trahan hit her home run.
Starr’s Mill added a run in the top of the seventh inning but Hampton came back in the bottom of the frame as Tyler Ellison hit a two-run homer.
In seven innings, Trahan had 11 strikeouts.

EC JV wins, ties in DH with McIntosh

SHARPSBURG-Dekel Williams ended a solid offensive Thursday night with a game winning single in the bottom of the fifth inning that gave the East Coweta Indians a 4-3 win over the McIntosh Chiefs in the second game of a junior varsity doubleheader.
Including a 3-3 tie in the first game of the twinbill, the JV Indians are now 4-2-1 on the season with games against Troup County at home on Saturday.
The nightcap was tied at 3-3 with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning when Craig Newlands reached on an infield error while Kaleb Gardner and Kaleb Carey reached on consecutive single to load the bases for Williams.
On a 2-2 offering from McIntosh pitcher Joe Pressell, Williams lined a shot into left field and Newlands came home with the winning run.
Newlands who took over on the mound to pitch in the fifth was the winner.
The Indians took the initial lead of the game as Zach Carlton reached on an error and Mason Pearcy reached on a walk.
After two outs, Gardner lined a shot to left field allowing Carlton and Pearcy to score and the EC lead was 2-0.
After an attempt to add to the lead failed in the bottom of the third inning, the Indians made up for it in the next frame as Williams was hit by a pitch and advanced to third through a single by Erik Ellison and a pair of wild pitches.
However, the Chiefs came back in the top of the fifth to score all three runs as the result of walks and a throwing error.
Adrian Roman pitched the first two innings of the game and allowed two hits in as many innings with three strikeouts while Andrew Martin took over in the third before he was replaced by Ellison and Newlands in the fifth.
In the opening game of the doubleheader, McIntosh took the initial lead with a run in the top of the third inning with a single run as Aiden Wise scored on infield error.
East Coweta came back in the bottom of the frame with all of their runs as a Carlton groundout, a wild pitch and an RBI single by Newlands did the damage.
However, the Indians’ lead did not last as the Chiefs scored twice in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run single by starting pitcher Grasser.
The Indians had a chance to regain the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with runners in scoring position but were unable to take advantage and the game ended in a tie.
Williams was 2-for-2 with a run scored in the game while Pearcy, Quinlan Wiley, and Newlands had one hit each.
Carlton started the game and allowed four hits and three runs in three innings before he was replaced by Trey Jones in the fourth inning.

Strong relief by Monnin, RBIs by Estrada lead freshman Indians to win.

SHARPSBURG-John Monnin provided nearly four innings of solid relief Monday while L.J. Estrada
had the game winning hit to lead the East Coweta Indians to an 8-6 win over the Northgate VIkings
in a freshman baseball game.
The come-from-behind win improved the record for the Indians to 5-1 on the season.
The Vikings had a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jacob Rossi led off with a single
to center field and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Cooper Ramey.
Michael Son reached on a walk and both runners advanced on a pitch in the dirt while Estrada
was at the plate.
Estrada made the Vikings pay for the errant pitch by lining a single into center field to score Rossi
and Son with the go ahead run and an extra one for insurance.
Josh Sibley took over for Monnin in the top of the seventh inning by retiring the side in order
to record a save.
The Vikings took the first lead of the game with one out in the top of the first inning as Jadon Woodall
walked, advanced to second on an infield error and eventually came home on a wild pitch.
The Indians tied the game in the bottom of the first inning as Rossi led off with a single, stole second
base and eventually scored when Estrada hit into a force play.
Rossi finished the game with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate with two runs scored.
Northgate starter Logan Bolinger retired the next six batters before allowing a baserunner in the
bottom of the third inning.
Meanwhile, Bolinger’s teammates provided him a lead in the top of the second inning as they
scored four times to take a 5-1 lead.
After courtesy runner Landon Clare stole second base, Ben Traxler had a sacrifice bunt and after
a walk to James DuBose, Clare would come home as Woodall hit into a force play.
An error allowed Dubose to score while Jake Allie had a two-run single after two outs in the frame.
The Indians cut the lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning to 5-2 as Ramey reached on a one out
walk and advanced to third on a single by Son before coming home with two outs as Monnin reached
on an infield error.
Meanwhile, Monnin kept EC in the game after entering with one out in the top of the third inning as
he retired the two batters he faced in that frame and allowed one baserunner in the fourth.
An unearned run in the top of the fifth inning would be the only tally that marred a evening that
included one hit, three walks and three strikeouts.
Monnin’s outing on the mound paid off as the Indians came back to tie the game in the bottom
of the fifth inning.
Son led off with a walk and advanced to third after a throwing error that allowed Estrada to reach first.
Singles by Monnin and Andrew Arnold scored Son and pinch runner Ethan McCawley to cut the
margin to 6-4 while a groundout by Hayden Blair and and a sacrifice fly to center field by Connor
McElroy tied the game at 6-6.
Monnin was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBi to go along with his efforts on the mound while Son

Freshman records 10 runs and eight hits in sixth for comeback win, JV cruises in victory

SHARPSBURG-The East Coweta Indians sent 16 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning and 10 scored in a 10-4 come-from-behind victory over the Newnan Cougars in a freshman baseball game played Wednesday night.
The victory improved the Indians’ record to 4-1 on the season with a game at home on Monday against the Northgate Vikings.
Trailing 4-0 and being held hitless through five innings, the Indians began to cut into the deficit as Michael Son walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double to center field by L. J. Estrada.
A single by Avery Brown and walks to John Monnin and Josh Sibley accounted for another run that cut the score to 4-2.
Jacob Medina tied the game at 4-4 when he lined a two-run single to left and singles by Connor McElroy and Jacob Rossi followed to give EC a 5-4 as Sibley scored.
A sacrifice fly by Cooper Ramey added another run and after Son reached on a walk, the hits kept coming as Andrew Arnold and Brown followed with RBI singles.
The final three runs of the frame came on a bases loaded walk to Monnin and a pair of wild pitches.
Son, who took over in the top of the third inning on the mound, surrendered a single in the top of the seventh but the Cougars were unable to recover as force play ended the contest.
Newnan scored all of their runs in the top of the first inning as Dunn doubled, Anderson walked while an error and and an RBI single by Scott scored the duo.
A groundout and a passed ball allowed the Cougars to take a 4-0 lead to the bottom of the first inning.
Rossi overcame the tough start to retire the final two batter and keep the deficit at 4-0.
However, Cash made it through the bottom of the first inning as Son was the only baserunner after being hit by a pitch.
The Indians had a chance to chip into the Cougars’ lead with two runners on base and one out, but Cash recovered as he induced a foul pop and a flyball to center field.
Rossi, who dominated Whitewater last week, had a solid second inning with only one one baserunner and retired the first two batters of the third inning before getting into trouble with a pair of walks.
Son came into the game and allowed a single that loaded the bases before recording a strikeout that ended the frame.
The next six Cougars went down in order but they would threaten to add to the lead with a pair of runners.
However, two force plays would thwart the scoring effort as the inning came to an end.

The Indians recorded a sweep against their cross-county rivals by scoring early in a 14-2 victory.
In the first inning, the Indians scored three runs and added five in the top of the third inning to
