The Lady Indians broke through in the bottom of the third as Lilly Agan reached base on a throwing error by Hester and eventually scoring on a two out single by Kenadie Cooper.
After a fourth inning in which Ansley Gunter would have two putouts at first base, the Lady Indians added to their advantage in the bottom of the frame as the aforementioned Gunter led off with a line drive double along the third base line.
Caison Byars followed with a bloop single and went to second on a throw to third that failed to retire Gunter and both came home as Ashleigh Griffin lined a single past the second baseman.
The Lady Indians were unable to add to the lead but it didn't matter as Lynch was recording strikeouts while "allowing" third baseman Olivia Cook to have a pair of putouts.
Lynch, who finished with 14 strikeouts, lost her bid at a no-hitter and saw her only jam in the top of the seventh inning she surrendered a single to Gracie Mixson and a one out walk to Ashlyn Mickler.
However, the Cherokee threat ended quickly as a ground ball was hit to Griffin at shortstop who threw to Cook for a force and Lynch ended the game with another strikeout.
Hester, who pitched all three games against Colquitt County in the first round, proved to be tough in the first game allowing seven hits and recording three strikeouts.

With Aniston Wright unable to pitch due to illness, Jaliyah Holmes got the call and surrendered a double to open the frame before retiring the next three batters on infield putouts.

An answer came in two forms by the Lady Indians in the top of the fifth inning.
In the top half, singles by Lynch, Cooper, Gunter and pinch hitter Ansley Duffey produced two runs and gave the Lady Indians a 6-3 lead.
In the bottom of the inning, head coach Franklin Deloach pressed the "Kelley" button as she took over on the pitching rubber and in her final home game, took care of business by striking out seven of nine batters while allowing Agan to make a catch in center field in the fifth and catcher Caroline Lively to make a catch in the seventh.
The Lady Indians added to the lead in the top of the sixth. as Prior singled in her final at bat at home followed by a walk to Lynch and the former coming home on a double by Cooper.

With one out, Ashleigh Griffin walked and Cook followed by drilling a 2-2 offering over the left fence for a two-run home run to give the Lady Indians the lead.
Singles by Taylor and Agan led to another run as Prior hit a sacrifice fly to center field and after an intentional walk to Lynch, Cooper made the Lady Warriors pay as she drilled a two-run double to right that scored two runs.

Pitching almost perfect by Holmes, Lynch in one-hitters at Home Plate, winning streak at 50

PEACHTREE CITY-Anybody who was looking for perfection from the East Coweta Lady Indians pitching staff for the second straight night almost got their wish Friday at Home Plate.
After Kelley Lynch pitched a perfect game against the Northgate Lady Vikings on Thursday, Jaliyah Holmes flirted with the feat only but had to settle for a one-hitter in a 7-0 victory over the Parkview Lady Panthers.
Meanwhile, a bunt single was the only mark against Lynch in the second game of the tripleheader as the Lady Indians were 5-0 winners to improve 14-0 this season and collect their 50th in a row.
The Lady Indians will take those marks into region play on Tuesday as they host the Newnan Lady Cougars in a key Region 2-AAAAAAA game.

A defense played a role in the EC scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning as Kenadie Cooper reached on an error, stole second and moved to third on a single by Ansley Gunter before scoring when Parkview turned a 4-6-3 double play.
The Lady Indians closed the scoring with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Byars reached on a pinch hit single, advanced to second as Olivia Cook reached on a walk and scored as Kylie Ferguson came off the bench and lined a double.
Cook, who moved to third on the Ferguson double, recorded the final tally of the contest on a wild pitch.
Meanwhile, Holmes attempted to pitch the second straight perfect game and third in five contests and appeared to be accomplishing the task as retired eight of the first nine batters on strikeouts and retiring that batter on a pop back to her.
Her attempt at perfection ended as Parkview catcher Erica Marlette reached first on an infield error with two outs in the top of the sixth.
The no-hitter was still intact until a 1-2 offering to Kyla Turner with two outs in the top of the seventh inning fell harmlessly to the ground in left field to end a string of 13 hitless innings tossed by the EC staff.
Holmes was unfazed after the single as she retired Ashleigh Lawson on strikes to give her 11 in the game as well as two putouts.

Lady Indians score seven runs in the fifth in strange victory as Lynch has 10K in one-hittter and Duffeynator goes yard

SHARPSBURG-Mother Nature has not been kind to the East Coweta Lady Indians so far in the 2018 season.
On August 18, rain and severe lightning canceled a portion of the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament on the EC field including a matchup with North Paulding.
Two days later, games with Hampton and Westlake were postponed causintg the Lady Indians braintrust to reschedule games.
Wednesday evening, Mother Nature visited Coweta County again as thunder and lightning delayed the varsity contest between the Lady Indians and the Whitewater Lady Wildcats..
After 30 minutes, the game was able to get underway until lightning invaded the area with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The game was stopped and after a brief discussion was called as the Lady Wildcats coaching staff elected to not wait to resume and the game was entered as a 7-0 forfeit victory for the Lady Indians.
The win improved the overall record to 10-0 as the Lady Indians won their 46th straight game.
While the final goes official as a 7-0 win, the statistics count as the Lady Indians assumed a 7-1 lead when the lightning arrived.
In the action on the field, Kelley Lynch was following her sterling performance from Monday as she fired a perfect game in a 6-0 win over Hampton.
Dreams of another perfect game were dashed immediately as Whitewater leadoff batter Kyee Ricks reached on a walk and stole two bases.
However, Ricks was stranded at third as Lynch recorded a pair of strikeouts and induced a weak pop back to the pitching rubber.
Over the next couple of innings Lynch was in control with more strikeouts and a pair of groundouts including one hit back to her in the circle.
The only hit she would surrender was a bunt on the infield that stopped rolling by Lily Griffith to open the top of the fourth inning.
Griffith would steal second and come around to score on a throwing error and for the first time 12 innings a run was scored against Lynch despite the tally being unearned.
Undaunted, Lynch recorded a popup and two strikeouts to end the frame and had a very quick fifth inning with two strikeouts and an attempted bunt that catcher Caroline Lively picked up and threw a strike to Madison Lecuona who was covering first base on the play.
In five innings, Lynch had 10 strikeouts with a pair of assists and a putout as she was about to go to 2-0 on the season.after the fateful bottom of the fifth inning.
Lilly Agan led off with a single , stole second and came home on a double by Carmen Prior to tie the game at 1-1.
Lynch reached first on an intentional walk and Kenadie Cooper followed with a sacrifice bunt that became an error as she and the ball arrived at first at the same time with the latter going into right field.
Prior scored on the play to give EC the lead and courtesy runner Hanna Miller was sent to third on the play while Cooper went to second on the play.
Miller and Cooper would eventually score on a double by Ansley Gunter and after Katie Taylor reached on a walk, Ansley Duffey would provide the most exciting moment of the night after a pitching change was made.
Duffey, who flirted with a home run in the bottom of the second inning, responded after the pitching change by hitting a 1-2 offering over the left center field fence for a three run home run and the lead was 7-1.
The home run was the first varsity shot for Duffey who was 2-for-3 in the game.
Caison Byars followed with a pinch hit single but was erased on a line drive double play than Agan came to the play for the second time in the frame.
With a count of 2-0, play was stopped and after a few contentious moments, the game was called and the Lady Indians declared the winner by forfeit.
Next for the Lady Indians is a trip to Cobb County to face the Campbell Lady Spartans on Wednesday September 5 in a Region 2-AAAAAAA contest.

Streak increases to 43 while Mother Nature gets in the way

Mother Nature has once again shown that she does not like sports as proven over the last 48 hours in Coweta County.
Saturday, the Ola Mustangs and Cairo Syrupmakers were competing in the third game of the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament at East Coweta when the heavens opened in the third inning with Ola leading 3-2.
During the delay, lightning paid a visit and finally the game and the following contest between the Lady Indians were canceled as power went off in the Sharpsburg area.
Image result for softball rain delay rulesAfter a dry Sunday, Monday came and as expected, Mother Nature visited Coweta County again and rained out the contest between the Lady Indians and the Hampton Lady Hornets.
That contest will be rescheduled for Wednesday after the 4:30 junior varsity game between EC and Newnan is played.
Before the non-region home game, the Lady Indians will begin Region 2-7AAAAAAA play Tuesday in Fulton County against the Westlake Lady Lions who come into the game with a record.
Meanwhile, the Lady Indians won three games over the weekend to improve to 7-0 and carry a 43-game winning streak into the game with the Lady Lions.
