Indians had three-of-a-kind with a trio of four-run innings in victory over Newnan

Coleman Wood scattered nine hits over five innings in East Coweta's 12-1
victory over Newnan. He didn't issue any walks and had four strikeouts.
After clinching the Region 2-AAAAAAA championship earlier in the week, the East Coweta Indians played the role of spoiler Thursday night with three four-run innings as they defeated the crosstown rival Newnan Cougars 12-1 at Joe Pope Field.
The Indians improved their overall record to 25-4 and will finish region play 14-1 with a game at home Friday evening up against the Troup County Tigers (19-10) at 5:45 before hosting Roswell next week in the state playoffs.
Meanwhile the Cougars have an overall record of 16-13 and will finish third in the region with a 10-5 record and will finish the regular season at Central-Carrollton on Saturday before they will have to travel next week to the Northern suburbs of Atlanta to face either Walton or Lassiter.
The top teams in Region 4-AAAAAAA whave region games scheduled for today.
The Indians took a quick lead in the top of the first inning as Devonte Brown and Emilio Morales opened with singles and after two outs, starer Coleman Wood was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Trevor Gaddy unloaded the bases with a two-run single and Cameron Jackson followed with a two-run double that gave EC a 4-0 lead.
Cameron Jackson had a two-run double in the top of the
four-run first inning for the Indians.
The lead was enough for Wood who retired the first two batters in the bottom of the first inning before surrendering consecutive singles to Wil Wilbanks and Bennett Rowan before getting the third out.
Wood faced the same situation in the bottom of the third inning as he retired the first two batters before Hamilton Schubert singled to left and Wilbanks followed with a single to right before getting the third out.
The Indians gave Wood a larger cushion in the top of the fourth inning with four runs that led to an 8-0 advantage.
Zack Bruce reached on a walk to open the inning and brought Cougars’ starter Jacob Snellgrove to an end as he was replaced by Seth Rainey.
With Brown at the plate, Bruce stole second base after Brown was retired on a strikeout, Morales and Dyal reached on walks to load the bases.
While Darrow was at the plate, Bruce scored on a wild pitch with Morales and Dyal advancing to second and third respectively before Darrow singled to bring Morales home and increase the lead to 6-0.
Wood helped his own cause when he hit a sacrifice fly to center that allowed Dyal to score from third and Gaddy followed with a single to left that scored Darrow.
The Cougars tried to rally in the bottom of the fourth inning after two outs as Eric Russell and Andrew Davis reaching on back-to-back singles before Michael Meason followed with a ground rule double that brought Russell home with the lone Newnan run.
Wood pitched one more inning before he was replaced on the mound by Avery Reynolds who allowed a single to Russell before finishing off the frame with a strikeout, a force play and a flyball.
In his five inning stint, Wood scattered nine hits and had another walk free outing to go with four strikeouts.
The Indians put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh inning with another four-run frame as Brown and Dyal each had two-run doubles.

East Coweta seniors win big on their night

NOW BATTING...
Pitcher Mason Frady came off the
bench with a run scoring double
The guarantee about Senior Night is seniors will play at some point and that was the case Wednesday night as the East Coweta Indians blitzed the Campbell Spartans 15-0 in a three inning Region 2-AAAAAAA game.
The win improves the Indians overall record to 22-4 and 11-1 in the region with a key battle with the Westlake Lions at home on Friday in which a win will clinch at least a tie for first place.
Cody Rodgers, one of the 14 seniors honored by the Indians, started on the mound and breezed through the top of the first inning with two strikeouts and a groundout.
In the bottom of the frame, Devonte Brown was hit by a pitch for the second straight night and waltzed into third as Emilio Morales reached on a bunt single.
The duo pulled off a double steal with Brown coming home with the first run of the night and Morales taking second before stealing third and coming home on a throwing error by the catcher.
Ryan Dyal, the only non-senior in the lineup, reached on a walk and a stolen base before coming home on a triple by Ethan Darrow.
A wild pitch allowed Darrow to come home with the fourth and final run of the inning.
Rodgers breezed through the second inning with a pair of strikeouts and was involved with the final out as he picked off a ground ball and raced to first ahead of the Campbell batter.
The bottom of the second inning allowed EC to blow the game open as they scored six times to take a 10-0 lead.
Rodgers had his only blip of the night in the top of the third inning by surrendering the only Spartan hit of the game but he retired the next three batters on strikes to give him seven for the game.
In the bottom of the third, the bench was emptied as four pinch-hitters (all senior pitchers) were used to end the game.
Gick and Bruce led off the frame with walks and for the third time in 2017, pitcher Mason Frady came to the plate and responded by lining a double to left field that score Gick.
Bruce moved to third on the play and scored on a wild pitch and after one out, Brandon Frost single with Frady coming home and the lead was 13-0.

Wood, Meyer, Darrow lead the way to EC win over ALexander.

THE STARTER.Coleman Wood started the first three and
two-third innings of Tuesday's game. He also had an RBI single.
DOUGLASVILLE-For the majority of Tuesday evening, the matchup between the East Coweta Indians and Alexander Cougars resembled the last game between the two clubs.
On March in Sharpsburg, pitching was the key as Mason Frady had 16 strikeouts and Mason Meyer had 11 as the Indians defeated the Cougars 2-1 in 12 innings.
In the rematch at Douglasville, the pitching on both sides was solid and the Indians were the victors but with a 4-1 final that took seven innings ot play.
The win improved the Indians' ove

rall record to 21-4 as they prepare to host the Campbell Spartans in a Region 2-AAAAAAA contest scheduled to begin at 5:30 while the Cougars fell to 19-4.
The Indians took a lead they never surrendered in the top of the second inning as three straight walks loaded the bases with Ethan Darrow coming home as Nate Gick hit into a fielder's choice that forced Trevor Gaddy at second base.
Ethan Darrow did a little of everything in Tuesday's 4-1 win
as he doubled, walked twice and scored twice on offense.
On defense, the second baseman had four assists and a putout.
A 1-0 lead was enough for EC starter Coleman Wood as he scattered four hits in three and two-third stint before turning the game over to Meyer who walked a batter before ending the frame with a force play in which Darrow took a single away as he flipped the ball to Devonte Brown at short.
Darrow figured into an important insurance run in the top of the sixth inning as he reached on a two out double and scored on a bad hop single past second by Wood who remained in the game by moving from the mound to first base.
The Cougars rallied in the bottom of the frame as Gavon Harman reached on a one out double off Meyer and scored on a two out single by Bryson Spencer.
However, Alexander was unable to draw any closer as EC scored twice in the top of the seventh inning as Gick singled and Brown reached on a one out walk before Emilio Morales lined a triple to right.
Meyer retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh inning to record the save as he retired the first batter on strikes with Wood recording a pair of putouts to end the game with Darrow getting an assist on the final play.
In his three and one-third innings of work, Meyer allowed two hits, one run, one walk and four strikeouts.

A walk to Griffin followed and after the first out of the frame was recorded, Freed picked up his first varsity hit with a single to center field and his second RBI of the game to give EC a 12-0 lead.

The Indians were held scoreless in the bottom of the third inning and in the top of the fourth inning, Austin Bunn took over on the mound while his brother Dooley remained in the game behind the plate.
The Bunn on the mound made quick work of the Falcons as he recorded two strikeouts in his first varsity game.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Indians were able to put the game away as Grioffin singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch while Smith recorded his first varsity hit and with oneout Cashion walked and Crowdis followed with his second sacrifice fly and RBI as Smith scored from third.
