Newnan defeats EC in Freshman game

The Newnan Cougars took advantage of several miscues by the East Coweta Indians Monday night to come away with a 10-5 victory in a Freshman baseball game played played at Joe Pope Field.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when Elton Gazan and Jacob Fiscus reached on back to back singles allwoing the Indians (5-2) to take the lead.
However, the Cougars (3-4) took the lead in the bottom of the frame as Trent Fallon led off with a walk and scored on back to back errors and Robbie Broderick recorded a sacrifice fly.
The Indians had a opportunity to regain the lead with in the top ofthe fourth inning as Noah Burgess was hit by a pitch while Dalton Carmichael and Gazan reached on singles to load the bases but Ethan was able to get out of the jam with an infield fly and a groundout.
In the top of the fifth inning the Indians tied the game at 2-2 as Ryan Dyal reached on a leadoff single and stole second before coming home on a one out double by Bradley Psathas.
The bottom of the frame began in the Indians' favor as starting pitcher Ryan Grifffin retired two of the first three batters and appeared to be out of the inning but Broderick would reach first on a wild pitch after strike three.
Josh Perry reached base for the Cougars that allowed Elliot Schubert to reach home with the lead run.
Cole Eiland replaced Griffin on the mound for the Indians and he was greeted rudely as had an RBI single and Hamilton Schubert followed with a two-run double to five the Cougars a 6-2 lead.
The Indians scored a run with two outs in the top of the sixth inning as Fiscus reached on a walk and came home on a single by Dyal.
The Cougars broke the game open in the bottom of the frame as they scored four runs in the frame.
After a caught stealing led to the first out, Matthew McCleland, Elliot Schubert and Nick Bowie reached on singles that loaded the bases and after an infield error scored two runs,the Cougars closed the scoring on a two-run triple by Blair.
The Indians attempted to rally in the top of the seventh inning as Chris Byers and Psathas reached on consecutive fielding miscues and both eventually scoring but three straight outs would end the game.
