Chiefs victimized by errors as Indians JV win in five innings

William Tansey allowed five hits and recorded five strikeouts
in 3.1 innings as the East Coweta JV defeated McIntosh 10-0
in a five-inning affair in Sharpsburg on Tuesday evening.
SHARPSBURG-The East Coweta Indians took advantage of seven errors Tuesday as they defeated the McIntosh Chiefs 10-0 in a five inning Junior Varsity game.
By virtue of the win, the Indians improved to 3-2 on the season as they will face the Chiefs in Peachtree City on Wednesday depending on the weather.
The Chiefs had a chance to get on the board early as Yuki Tumara and Landon Pope reached on consecutive one out singles in the top of the first inning, but Indians starter William Tansey left them stranded after a pair of strikeouts.
In the bottom of the second inning in Thomas was retired on a str, the Indians had a chance to get on the board as Ashton DeLoach was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a wild pitch before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt by Levi Wilson.
With one out, Devin Thomas was retired on a strikeout but a wild pitch on strike three allowed DeLoach to score as Thomas was thrown out at first.
Errors were the feature of the bottom of the third inning as the Indians scored five runs to take a 6-0 lead.
Landon Underhill reached on a walk and stole second before coming home on a single by Quinlan Wiley who advanced to second as JJ Freed walked and moved to third after Jordan Kenty walked.
Wilson hit a groundball to second and was called out at first as Wiley scored on the play and the other runners moved a base.
With Holmes at the plate, the errors began for the Chiefs as three consecutive errors allowed Freed, courtesy runner Kaleb Gardner and Thomas to come home before an infield fly ended the frame.
The Indians added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Freed reached on a one out walk and took third when a ball hit Kenty was mishandled before coming home on a single to right field by Wilson.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Indians were able to put the game away as Holmes reached on a single, stole second and scored on an error with two outs in the frame.
Underhill and Wiley reached on errors with the former coming home and Freed was walked before coming home on a game ending single by Kenty.
Tansey scattered five hits over three and one-third innings and recorded five strikeouts before he was relieved by Daniel Smith who retired three of the five batters he faced by strikeout and recording an assist from another batter.
