Lady Indians defeat Lady Panthers in five-inning varsity contest

SHARPSBURG-The East Coweta Lady Indians scored five runs in the first inning on the way to a 12-1 victory Monday night over the Chapel Hill Lady Panthers.
The victory in the five inning contest improved the overall record to 8-0 on the season with a Region 2-AAAAAAA contest Tuesday evening against the Westlake Lady Lions.
Lilly Agan started the scoring by reaching on a bunt single and a stolen base before coming home on a double by Kylie Ferguson.
Kenadie Cooper lined a double to left field that scored Ferguson and after a walk to Ansley Gunter, Ashleigh Griffin had a sacrifice fly to right that scored Cooper and Katie Taylor followed with a two-run shot over the right center field fence to give the Lady Indians a 5-0 lead.
The Lady Indians added a run in the bottom of the second inning as Cooper reached on a one out walk and on an errant throw by the Lady Panthers left fielder.
Chapel Hill averted a shutout by scoring a run in the top of the third inning against starting pitcher Jaliyah Holmes but were unable draw any closer against her and Ferguson who finished the game. 
In the bottom of the third inning, the Lady Indians added to the scoreboard as 11 batters went to the plate with five coming home.
Macie Wiggins doubled, moved to third on a passed ball before scoring the first run of the frame on a wild pitch.
Eliza Kuhne, Aniston Wright, Caison Byars and Kaliyah Matthews had consecutive walks that scored a run and one out later, Taylor walked to force home a run while Holmes was hit by a pitch and a fielders choice gave EC an 11-1 lead.
The final tally of the evening came in the bottom of the fourth inning as Ferguson led off with a single and scored on a two-out triple by Olivia Cook.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Panthers were unable to get the ball out of the infield as Ferguson induced an infield fly, Cook caught a line drive at third and an infield single before an infield pop to Wiggins at second ended the contest.
In three innings, Holmes allowed three hits while allowing a walk on the way to recording three strikeouts.
Ferguson allowed two hits and a walk in finishing the contest.
