ECJV start slow, finish strong in win over LaGrange

SHARPSBURG-For an inning and one-half, the unbeaten streak of the East Coweta Lady Indians junior varsity squad was endanger Wednesday afternoon in a contest against the LaGrange Lady Grangers.
The fear ended in the bottom of the second inning as the streak increased to 44 after a 14-2 win to go 11-0 for the season.
The Lady Indians spotted the Lady Grangers a pair of runs in the top of the first inning but scored a run in the bottom of the frame when Madison Duffel scored as Jenna Helmly grounded out.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians were able to take a lead they would not relinquish as Riley Ratzlaff singled and stole a base before scoring on a single by starting pitcher Maggie Stubbs
Stubbs second and advanced on a wild pitch before coming home with the go ahead run on a two out single by Ansley Teteak.
Karlie Guiterrez was hit by a pitch and stole second before Madisyn Weathers had a two run single to give EC a 5-2 lead.
The Lady Indians added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning as they scored four runs in the frame.
Shallyn Olszowy singled and moved around the bases before scoring on a wild pitch before  Ratzlaff singled and moved around the bases before scoring on an RBI single by Stubbs,
Stubbs would come home on a wild pitch and Teteak reached on a two out walk then stole second before scoring on a single by Weathers.
After three innings in which she allowed one hit and recorded three strikeouts, Stubbs was replaced on the pitching rubber by Ansley Joiner who made quick work of LaGrange with a pair of strikeouts.
The Lady Indians opened the bench in the bottom of the fourth inning as the straight pinch hitters were part of a four run frame that ended the contest.
Mackenzie Beasley led off with a walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch while four more batters walked to force home a run before Guiterrez lined a two run double to finish the contest.
The Lady Indians will play a doubleheader at home against Alexander on Tuesday September 8.
