Deloachs celebrate wedding anniversary at EC-Newnan softball game.

 

Catherine and Frank Deloach celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Wednesday night
at the softball game between East Coweta and Newnan. They are shown with members of the

SHARPSBURG-A number of events occurred on August 23 in various parts of the world.

In 1814, first lady Dolley Madison saved a portrait in the White House during the war of 1812 with the British while first daughter Margaret Truman sang in public for the first time in 1947.

The first Little League World Series champion was crowned in 1947 while Pete Rose was banned from major league baseball amidst gambling charges.

The Beatles hoped to own August 23, 1963 by themselves as their hit song "She Loves You" was released in the United Kingdom while drummer Ringo Starr was alleged to have admitted writing "Don't Pass Me By.

However, an event in the southeastern portion of the state of Georgia overshadowed the day for the Fab Four.

Wednesday night at the softball game between East Coweta and Newnan, the 60th wedding anniversary for Frank and Catherine Deloach was celebrated in front a large group.

Prior to the start of the game, the Deloachs were escorted to the pitching circle where Frank, who has spent a number of past anniversary with his bride at a game, tossed the ceremonial first pitch to Lady Indians catcher Madysen Weathers.

Ironically, Weathers became a bigger part of the celebration as she hit a home run to give the Lady Indians a 1-0 victory over their cross count rival.
