EC rides four home run parade in three inning win over Westlake

SHARPSBURG-When the East Coweta Lady Indians and Westlake Lady Lions get together, the game starts slow before a winner is declared by a surge in a late inning.
Such was not the case Tuesday evening as four home runs helped the Lady Indians quickly dispatch the Lady Lions 15-0 in a Region 2-AAAAAAA Tournament game that lasted three innings.
The Lady Indians (22-4) will host the Newnan Lady Cougars in the winners bracket game on Wednesday at 6:30 while the Lady Lions will face the Wheeler Lady Wildcats in the losers bracket at 4:30.
The Lady Indians took a 2-0 lead with two outs in the bottom of the first inning as Kelley Lynch doubled and starting pitcher Rachel Vaughn walked.
Aniston Wright hit a flyball to right field but the ball popped loose as the glove hit the ground which allowed Lynch and courtesy runner Caison Byars to score but Wright would get t
agged out at second on the play to end the frame.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians went to work as Ashlynn Gunter doubled and scored on a single by Hanna Miller who would move to second on an infield error that allowed Caroline Lively to reach first.
Carmen Prior walked to load the bases then Lindsay “Lulu” Warren lined a two-run single that gave EC a 5-0 lead.
Kelley Lynch was 3-for-3 at the plate Tuesday with a home run
and three RBIs.
After a flyball accounted for two outs, the Lady Indians added to the lead as Lynch drilled a two run shot that gave the Lady Indians a 7-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning, all nine batters came to the plate and eight came home to allow the Lady Indians to end the contest early.
Gunter led off the frame with a solo home run to left center field and Miller followed with a shot of her own.
After the inning’s only out, Prior drilled a double down the third base line and Warren reached base on a walk.
A single by Davis scored Prior and advanced Warren to third for Lynch who had an RBI single and took third on the throw home.
Vaughn would reach on a walk to load the bases for Wright who would hit a 2-0 offering over the center field fence for a grand slam that ended the contest in 55 minutes.
As for Vaughn’s effort on the pitching rubber, the junior retired all nine batters she faced with two strikeouts and five groundouts.
Lynch was 3-for-3 in the game with her three RBIs as she missed while Gunter and Miller each had two hits in the game.
