Holmes, Beigle combine on two-hitter in shutout as Cook has two RBIs to lead EC JV, streak at 27

Jaliyah Holmes allowed one hit and recorded 10 strikeouts in the win.
Jaliyah Holmes was at it again as she and Taylor Beigle combined on a two-hitter Thursday while Olivia Cook had two RBIs to lead the East Coweta Lady Indians to an 8-0 win over the Newnan Cougars in a junior varsity contest.
The win improved the overall record to 10-0 and extended the unbeaten streak to 27 games.
The Lady Indians scored the first run of the game as Kip Heggood was intentional walked and after two wild pitches was able to come home on a sacrifice fly to center field by Bailee Echols.
In the top of the third inning, EC added to the lead as Heggood walked and with two outs came home on a fielder's choice by Holmes.
The Lady Indians increased the lead in the top of the fourth inning as Kourtney White reached on a two-base error and scored on a triple by Cook who scored on a wild pitch.
Emma Elrod singled and with one out courtesy Kylie Ferguson stole second and scored on triple to left by Eliza Kuhne who scored on a fielder's choice as an attempt to tag her failed and the lead was 6-0.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Indians were able to put the game away after one out as Cook drilled a shot over the left field fence for a solo home run to give EC a 7-0 cushion.
Elrod reached on a walk and after the second out of the inning, a flyball to left by Kuhne was mishandled allowing Ferguson to score.
After four innings in which she allowed one hit, walked one and recorded 10 strikeouts, Holmes was lifted in favor of Beigle who maneuvered through the frame surrendering a hit and a hit batter while recording a strikeout and inducing a pair of infield outs.
The next game for the Lady Indians will be at home next Wednesday at 5:30 against the Starr's Mill Lady Panthers.
