Taylor goes yard twice, Peacock deals on the pitching rubber in EC JV win


The new scoreboard told the story as East Coweta defeated Starr's Mill
8-0 in a junior varsity game played Wednesday.
SHARPSBURG-The East Coweta Lady Indians found a unique way to showoff their new scoreboard to the fans Wednesday afternoon in a junior varsity game against the Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers.
Have Katie Taylor hit two home runs and deliver four RBIs in an 8-0 win for the Lady Indians and extend the unbeaten streak to 28 games as they improved to 11-0 on the season.
The first two innings were scoreless but the new scoreboard, installed Friday on the East Coweta campus, finally saw a run on the side that said Indians in the bottom of the third inning as Bailee Echols reached on a one out walk, stole second and scored in front of Taylor’s first shot which was a 1-2 offering that was hit over the left field fence.
The scoreboard saw two more runs on the Indians’ side in the frame as Olivia Cook was hit by a pitch while doubles by Macie Wiggins and Kaliyah Holmes resulted in two more runs and 4-0 EC lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Taylor and the Lady Indians added four more runs to the new scoreboard.
Eliza Kuhne led off the frame with a double and after one out, came home on a line drive triple by Echols who eventually scored as Taylor delivered another blast over the fence in left field.
The final tally for the scoreboard came with two outs in the frame when Wiggins came home from second base as Kip Heggood lined a single to left field.
The beneficiary of the run support was Mollie Peacock who allowed two hits and recorded three strikeouts in the game as she held the Lady Panthers at bay.
Meanwhile, the varsity won it’s 47 straight game and 11th of the year as they defeated the Campbell Lady Spartans 11-1 in a five inning Region 2-AAAAAAA encounter in Cobb County.
The Lady Indians scored twice in the top of the fourth inning without the benefit of an RBI as Hanna Miller and Lilly Agan scored on stolen bases.
In the top of the fifth inning, EC pulled away from Campbell with nine runs as Kelley Lynch had a two-run single while Miller and Carmen Prior had RBI singles.
Aniston Wright was the winning pitcher as she pitched a complete game allowing two hits and a fifth inning run while recording five strikeouts.

Next on the EC docket will be a trip to Northgate to face the Lady Vikings with the junior varsity beginning at 4:30 with the varsity to follow.
