Purple and Gold ECJV play to 8-8 tie

 SHARPSBURG-Three runs in the top of the sixth inning resulted in an 8-8 tie between the Purple and Gold squads of the East Coweta Lady Indians junior varsity softball program
Tuesday night.
The Purple squad had an 8-5 lead in the top of the sixth inning the Gold squad began to rally as starting pitcher Zoey Brown led off with a bloop single to right field.
Catherine Maxwell followed with a single and Kinli Blair reached on a walk that loaded the bases for Keyleigh Gardner.
Gardner responded with a two-run single and Bella Waddell followed with a single that scored Blair with the tying run.
The Purple squad was retired in order in the bottom of the frame as the game ended as the 90 minute time limit expired.
The game started in favor of the Gold as Waddell and Abby Wheeler opened the game by reaching on consecutive walks with both scoring on a one out single by Kendall Austin and after Kaelyn Bowen walked, Brown had a two-out run single.
The Purple scored a run in the bottom of the first when Kaylee King walked and eventually scored on a two out double by Reese McFadden.
A walk to Blair to Blair to open the top of the second inning allowed the Gold to reclaim the run and she scored on a bases loaded walk to Wheeler.
After being shutdown for the first three innings, the Purple squad rallied in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 5-5.
Ariana Huber led off with a triple and eventually scored when Liberty McCaskill grounded out to first.
McFadden followed with a single and after the second out of the frame was recorded, Aubrey Hodges walked and Callie Mucha followed with a run scoring single.
Presley Burge delivered the runs that tied the game when she lined a single to right venter field.
The Purple took the lead with some two out magic as Huber singled and scored on a single by McCaskill and an outfield error.
McFadden reached on a walk and Neely Easom followed with a two run single.
At the plate, Brown was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Wheeler reached base three times with an RBI and a run scored.
McFadden helped lead the Purple with a 2-for-3 effort with an RBI and two runs scored while Huber was also 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.
NOTES:  The junior varsity and varsity games at Harris County that were scheduled for Wednesday were cancelled as the Lady Tigers rescheduled a region game with Starr's Mill due to Thursday weather.
The next game involving the Lady Indians programming is schedule for Thursday (weather permitting at home against Central Carrollton.
Junior Varsity (Gold) is scheduled for 4:30 while the varsity is scheduled for 6:00.

Three-run third inning sparks Gold win


 SHARPSBURG-Purple and Gold met again Monday evening in a battle between the two junior varsity versions of the East Coweta Lady Indians.

At the end of the 90-minute contest, the Gold came away with a 6-3 victory as Bella Waddell and Katelyn Bowen each scored twice.
The Gold scored the first run of the game with one out in the top of the second inning as Bowen reached on a bloop single to right field.
Bowen advanced to third on a single by Zoey Brown before coming home when Catherine Maxwell grounded out to shortstop.
The Purple people responded by scoring all of their runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Reese McFadden reached on a one out single and Callie Mucha followed with a double with the former coming home on a single by Ariana Huber.
An infield error allowed Mucha to come home and the final run of the frame scored as Huber stole home.
However, the Gold team responded in the top of the third inning with three runs to regain the lead.
Abby Wheeler led off by reaching on a walk and Keyleigh Gardner followed with a bunt single.
Waddell lined a double to right center field and both runners came home to tie the game at 3-3.
After the inning's first out, Waddell would come home with the go ahead run Kylie Rozier lined a single to left field.
Bowen gave the Gold a 5-3 lead in the top of fourth inning as she reached on a leadoff walk, moved to second on a groundout and advanced to third on a wild pitch and scoring on an infield error.
Waddell scored the final run of the game in the top of the fifth inning by reaching first after being hit by a pitch and eventually coming home on a sacrifice fly to right field by McFadden.
Brown pitched four innings to record the win for the Gold squad allowing three hits and recording three strikeouts before Waddell took over in the fifth inning allowing a pair of two out singles.
The Purple will travel to LaGrange to face Troup County on Wednesday on a doubleheader while the Gold will host Harris County on Thursday.
The Varsity will travel to Douglasville for a Region 2-6A game on Tuesday against Chapel Hill as the first of three games during the week.
