EC gets revenge on Newnan in JV game

After ending their last encounter in a tie, the East Coweta Lady Indians got a measure of revenge Thursday as they defeated the Newnan Lady Cougars 13-0 in a junior varsity matchup that took four innings.
The lady Indians took the lead early as Katie Taylor and Ansley Gunter reached on consecutive walks and Ansley Duffey brought them home with a two-run single.
The East Coweta Lady Indiajns gave pitcher Kylie Ferguson
plenty of runs to work with in their 13-0 four inning win over the
Newnan Lady Cougars in a JV game on Thursday. Ferguson allowed
two hits and recorded five strikeouts.
In the top of the third inning, the Lady Indians did most of their damage as 12 batters went to the plate with six coming home to increase the lead to 8-0.
Madison Lecuona was hit by a pitch to open the frame, Kenadie Cooper followed with a double and one out later both came home on a double by Gunter.
Cook and Duffey reached base to load the bases for Ashleigh Griffin who hit a sacrifice fly to center field hat scored courtesy runner Ava Brooke Strickland.
Macie Wiggins had an RBI single and after Savanna Murphy walked, Jaliyah Holmes had a rwo-run single to complete the scoring.
Meanwhile, Kylie Ferguson held the Lady Cougars off of the scoreboard by allowing only a pair of hits in the first three frames of the game.
The Lady Indians add more runs to the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning as they batted around to score five times.
Cooper singled, moved to second on a groundout and moved to third on a wild pitch before coming home on a fielder's choice hit by Gunter.
Cook followed with an RBI double and came home as a result of a pair of Newnan errors in the field and after Ashleigh Campbell reached, Kourtney White reached on a fielder's choice and Kaliyah Matthews grounded out to bring Campbell home.
The scoring came to an end as Strickland had an RBI single.
Ferguson was able to end the game with only one baserunner in the frame as EC won on the nmercy rule.
