Guiterrez, Lumpkins lead ECJV to win, extend streak to 35

SHARPSBURG-In her career at East Cowets, catcher Karlie Guiterrez either has hit the ball or has been hit by the yellow sphere and Friday was no different.
Guiterrez was hit by a pitch and hit a two run home run as the Lady Indians defeated the Whitewater Lady Wildcats 8-0 in the Georgia Dugout Club junior varsity tournament.
The victory which took five innings, extended the Lady Indians unbeaten string to 35 games.
After winning pitcher Maggie Stubbs retired the sidee in order in the top of the first inning, her teammates scored three times to give her a lead that she never surrendered.
With one out, Mallory Lumpkins singled and reached third on a throwing error while in this at bat Guiterrez was hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count.
Lumpkins was 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored, an RBI and a stellar catch.

A sacrifice fly to left field by Madisyn Weathers scored Lumpkins while courtesy runner Elizabeth Austin scored on a two out single by Ansley Teteak who scored the final run of the frame on a triple by Shallyn Olszowy.
Teteak went 2-for-2 with a walk, and RBI and a runs scored.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lady Indians added to the lead with another three spot as Riley Ratzlaff singled and scored on a double by Jenna Helmly.
Helmly scored on a single by Madison Duffle who doubled and scored on a single by Lumpkins.

The bottom of the fourth inning saw the Lady Indians add to the cushion as Lumpkins reached on a walk and instead of getting hit, Guiterrez had a hit as she lined a shot over the left field fence for a two-run home run.
The advantage was enough for Stubbs who allowed four hits through five innings and received stellar defense behind her including a diving catch by Lumpkins in the top of the fifth inning.
OLA 7, Whitewater 7. The Lady Wildcats came back from a 7-0 deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning to gain a 7-7 tie with the Ola Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Mistangs scored three runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead, added three more in the top of the third inning and a single run in the fourth.
Jaylen Hope pitched the first three frames for Ola allowing no hits.
OLA 1. NORTHGATE 0, The Lady Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Emily Carter for the only tally of the game.
Hope worked five solid innings for Ola allowing one hit. Savannah Dickman also pitched well in four innings for Northgate allowing three hits with four strikeouts.
The tournament will resume Saturday as follows:
10:00 Whitewater vs Westfield
11:30 Westfield  vs Northgate
1:00 East Coweta vs Northgate
2:30 East Coweta vs Ola.
