Miller paces Lee at the plate in win over Arnall

Lee pitcher Savannah Chitnus recorded tbe strikeouts in the Timberwolves'
9-4 win.
Kate Miller was 3-for-3 with a run scored, six RBIs and an inside-the-park home run Friday night to lead the Lee Lady Timberwolves to a 9-4 win over the Arnall Lady Knights in a middle school league softball game played at Whitlock Park.
The win improved the Lady Timberwolves record to 2-0 on the season while the Lady Knights fell to 0-2.
After a scoreless first inning, Lee got on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning as Kaylee Mills and Savanna Crosby reached on consecutive singles and advanced on a groundout hit by Tameia McFarland.
Mills came home on a single by Avery Luchessi and Crosby scored on a single by Miller for the Lady Timberwolves runs in the frame.
Lee added a run in the top of the third inning as starting pitcher Savannah Chitnus scored on an infield error.
Chitnus retired the first seven Arnall batters before surrendering a single in the bottom of the third inning to Hayden Chaffin who eventually scored on a wild pitch.
The other run of the inning for the Lady Knights came as Peyton Mayo walked and eventually scored on a groundout to cut the margin to 3-2.
The Lady Timberwolves got the runs back in the top of the fourth inning as Luchessi reached on a error, Natalee Echols walked and Miller followed with a line shot to straightaway center field for a three-run inside-the-park home run.
In the top of the fifth inning, Lee added to the lead as Echols and Miller each had a RBI single in a three-run frame to increase the advantage to 9-2.
The Lady Knights rallied in the bottom of the frame as pitcher McKayla Carley tripled and came home on a throwing error while another run scored on an infield error.
After a single, Chitnis recovered to induce a popup to end the game.
In pitching five innings, Chtnis recorded seven strikeouts.
McKinley Johnson had five strikeouts for East Coweta.
Earlier in the day, all of the runs came in the first inning but it was enough for the East Coweta Lady Indians who improved to 3-0 with a 13-2 win over the Madras Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles took the lead in the top of the first inning as Journey Jackson and Gracie Lowe had RBI groundouts.
In the bottom of the inning, the Lady Indians tied the game at 2-2 on a two-run double by Payton Roberson who scored the lead run on a sacrifice by Brooklyn Fisher.
Among the other highlights of the inning were an RBI single by Baylor Mikell and a two-run double by Kylee Cooper.
The rest of the game was pitching as EC starter McKinley Johnson retired nine of ten batters and recorded five strikeouts.
