Roberson, Mikell record hat trick in hits to lead ECM to win.

Three was the magic number for Payton Roberson and Baylor Mikell on Thursday as the East Coweta Lady Indians faced the Arnall Lady Knights in a middle softball game at Whitlock Park.
Both had three hits, while Roberson scored three runs and drove home three runs and Mikell scored once and had two RBIs in a 16-0 win over the Lady Knights.
The game improved their record to 2--0 with a game scheduled for Friday at 6:00 against Madras.
The Lady Indians scored early as Roberson and Baylor Mikell reached on singles before scoring on a single by Brooklyn Fisher.
A single by Addie Joiner followed and a sacrifice by Hannah Monnin resulted in two runs coming home.
After two outs, Cam Cassie reached on an infield single and McKenley Johnson walked before Roberson batted for the second time in the top of the first and scorched a triple that resulted in the aforementioned to with Mikell closing out the scoring with an RBI single.
The beneficiary of the run support was starter McKenna Holmes who walked the first Lady Knight but was able to get a double play and a strikeout in the bottom of the frame.
East Coweta threatened to add to the lead with two outs in the top of the second inning as Kylie Cooper reached on an infield error and Holmes and Johnson were hit by consecutive pitches but Johnson was caught off base and was picked off.
Meanwhile, Holmes was pitching solidly in the circle and receiving solid defense behind her including a line drive caught by Mikell at shortstop who threw to second for a double play.
AFter EC was held scoreless in the top of the third inning, Holmes did the same to Arnall as she allowed a single to Mackenly Greene before retiring the next three on strikeouts.
The Lady Indians added to the lead in the top of the fourth inning with an eight-run frame that was highlighted by a two-run single by Holmes and RBI singles by Roberson and Mikell.
In the bottom of the frame, the Lady Knights had the bases loaded but Holmes was able to end the game by recording her sixth strikeout.
