Holmes, White pace offense for EC JV, extend unbeaten streak to 28

Pitcher Kylie Ferguson and second baseman Kourtney White had parts to
play in the EC JV 8-2 win at Northgate. Ferguson allowed three hits in four innings
and had an RBI single while White had an RBI triple and scored a run.
Kaliyah Matthews and Kourtney White combined to reach base six times, score twice and record four RBIs to lead the East Coweta Lady Indians to an 8-2 victory over the Northgate Lady Vikings in a junior varsity game played Thursday.
The win improved the EC record to 11-0 and extended the unbeaten streak to 28 games.
The Lady Indians took the lead with two outs in the top of the first inning as starting pitcher Kylie Ferguson reached on a a walk and White followed with an RBI triple and scored on a single to right center field by Macie Wiggins.
Wiggins gave EC a 3-0 lead when Matthews lined a double to center field to complete the scoring in the frame.
The Lady Indians added to the lead in the top of the second inning by scoring four more runs to take a 7-0 lead.
Jaliyah Homes reached on a bunt single while Bailee Echols walked and both recorded bases and Ferguson followed with an RBI singles as Holmes came home.
White was hit by a pitch and Echols would come home as Wiggins grounded out to shortstop.
The Lady Indians closed out the scoring as Matthews singled courtesy runner Kip Heggood and White came home.
The Lady Vikings got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning as Marissa Martin singled and advanced to third on an error after a two out single by Gwen Holbrook who took second on the play.
Both runners came home as Hannah Smith reached on a single and the margin was cut to 7-2.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Lady Indians took an 8-2 lead as Emma Elrod reached base on a fielder’s choice, stole two bases and score on a two out single by Ava Brooks Strickland.
After a four inning stint in which she surrendered four hits and recorded five strikeouts, ferguson was replaced on the pitching rubber in the bottom of the fifth inning by Taylor Beigle who allowed a pair of singles and held the Lady Vikings off the scoreboard.
