EC was "Korbyn Strong" in 8-4 win over Heard County

"Korbyn Strong" was the theme Wednesday night for the
East Coweta Indians as they honored two-year old Korbyn
Martinez who is the nephew of assistant coach Tyler
Ridgeway.

The East Coweta Indians took advantage of six errors by the Heard County Braves and overcame errors of their own Wednesday night to come away with an 8-4 non-region victory in Sharpsburg.
Held on a night called “Strikeout for Leukemia”, the Indians improved to 12-3 on the season with a Region 2-AAAAAAA contest at home against the Westlake Lions at 5:30.
The event was in support of two-year-old Korbyn Martinez who is the nephew of EC assistant Tyler Ridgeway and is suffering from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia.
Shirts were sold over the last week on the EC campus while Heard County High School also raised $1050 with all of the proceeds earmarked to help Korbyn who will be going to Philadelphia for further treatment.
As for the game, the Braves scored a run as Logan Ward singled and eventually scored with two outs in the first inning after an error in the outfield.
The Indians came back in the bottom of the inning as Ryan Dyal and Emilio Morales reached on singles and after a wild pitch moved both runners, Ethan Darrow hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Dyal from third.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Indians took the lead after two outs as Nate Gick and Zack Bruce reached on consecutive errors and Dyal followed with an RBI single.
The Braves came back to take the lead in the top of the third inning as the Indians committed a pair of errors that led to a pair of unearned runs and a 3-2 cushion.
T-shirts were sold at East Coweta High School over the past week to help benefit Korbyn.

The Indians tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning as Devonte Brown was hit by a pitch and advanced around the bases on a single by Darrow and a sacrifice by Coleman Wood before scoring on a groundout to second by Trevor Gaddy.
After two outs in the top of the fifth inning, the Braves took their final lead of the game after a double and two errors by the Indians.
The Braves would have their own problems in the bottom of the frame as Morales doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring the tying run while Brown was able to reach on an infield error.
Brown moved to second on a throwing error and went to third on a balk before coming home with the lead run as Darrow grounded out to first.
Wood reached on an infield error and advanced to second before eventually coming home on a single by Gaddy.
The Indians scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning as Morales reached on an outfield error while Brown reached after being hit a pitch and Darrow reached on a walk that loaded the bases.
A fielders choice retired Brown at third while Morales was able to score and Darrow advanced to third.
Gaddy was hit by a pitch that loaded the bases for Cameron Jackson who hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Darrow to come home with the final run of the game.

Coleman Wood started the game on the mound for the Indians.
He pitched two and one-third innings before he was relieved.
Wood started the game for the Indians and was replaced in the top of the ird inning by Cody Rodgers who provided three and two-third innings of relief on the mound to get the win before he was replaced in the top of the seventh by Avery Reynolds who allowed the first two batters reached for the Braves before retiring the next three batters to end the game and the Indians to leave “Korbyn Strong”.
