Deloach collects 400th win at East Coweta in victory over Fayette County

SHARPSBURG-Throughout his career as a head baseball coach, East Coweta's Franklin Deloach has seen his share of difficult victories.
Thursday night at home against Fayette County was not an exception as the Indians defeated the Tigers 2-0 in a non-region win that was the 400th for Deloach who has coached at Creekside and East Coweta for almost 20 years.
The Indians improved to 9-2 as they prepare for a Region 3-AAAAAA game Friday night in Sharpsburg against Langston Hughes while the Tigers fell to 2-8.
The Indians scored their first run of the evening with two outs in the bottom of the first inning as Devonte Brown reached on a walk and advanced to third on a single by Jacquez Williams before coming home on a double by Dillon Roller.
After the initial frame, the Indians had difficulty solving Tigers pitcher Jermiah Joseph who seemed to get the pitches needed to get outs.
From inning two through five, Joseph allowed three baserunners while getting three groundouts, four flyballs and three strikeouts.
Overall, Joseph finished with a five-hitter in recording the complete game.
The Indians were able to add a run in the bottom of the sixth against Joseph with two outs as Carson Balliew reached on a walk and Trevor Gaddy was hit by a pitch before Zach Bruce lined a single to center field allowing courtesy runner Brandon frost to score.
meanwhile, a tandem of pitchers were used by Delaoch with Thomas Leone starting the first two innings allowing a hit and a walk while recording two strikeouts.
A.J. Summers took over in the third inning allowing two baserunners and recording two strikeouts while Mason Meyer also had a pair of strikeouts in the fourth.
Brian Oliver took over in the fifth inning allowing a hit while picking up a strikeout, and Mason Frady finished the game in the top of the sixth allowing two hits and recording five strikeouts.
Both hits by the Tigers against Frady came in the top of the seventh as Jack Ridgeway doubled and with one out tried to score on a single to right by Chazz Walker, but Gaddy threw a strike to Balliew at home who applied the tag for the out.
NOTE: Deloach had a successful debut as head coach at EC as the Indians defeated the Griffin Bears 15-5 on March 6, 2001.
