EC JV ride five-run third inning to win over Sandy Creek

SHARPSBURG-It was a case of scoring early and often Wednesday for the East Coweta Indians as they scored in all but one frame including five in the third inning to defeat the Sandy Creek Patriots 10-0 in a junior varsity baseball game.
The game was called under the mercy rule with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Indians opened their scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning as Bailey Psathas walked and Nick Daniels singled to open the frame and eventually came home when Dooley Bunn hit a two-run single who was stranded at third after a pair of groundouts.
After a scoreless second inning, the Indians batted around in the third as all nine batters came to the plate.
Consecutive doubles by Psathas and Daniels accounted for a run while after one out Bunn was hit by a pitch, William Kelley singled and Ryan Griffin reached on a walk to bring Daniels home and a 4-0 lead.
Two wild pitches and a throwing error added three more runs and EC was enjoying a 7-0 lead.
Psathas and Daniels added to their scoring totals as well as that of the Indians in the bottom of the fourth inning as they led off the frame with walks.
Psathas came home with his third run on a wild pitch while Daniels achieved the hat trick as he came home on a double play.
Psathas also had an RBI in the game to add to his evening when his single in the bottom of the fifth inning brought home Griffin from third for the final run of the game.
In addition to scoring three runs each, Psathas and Daniels each collected two hits while Griffin scored twice in the game.
Liam West pitched the first three and one-third innings allowing two hits and recording six strikeouts while Nolan Shelton tossed the remaining inning and two-thirds allowing one hit and recording two strikeouts.
