After region game, remaining three games promise to be tough

It was expected that the East Coweta Lady Indians will breeze through their Region 2-7A contest at Pebblebrook with the Lady Falcons played Tuesday afternoon in Mableton.
That is what happened as the Lady Indians scored runs in the first three innings as Ansley Gunter hit two home runs to lead the way to a 21-0 blitzkrieg over the Lady Falcons.
The Lady Indians will take a 10-0, 2-0 record into an arduous week with three games against
of reathree teams who spent the final weekend of October last year in Columbus at the Elite Eight state tournament.
First in the trio will be longtime nemesis Whitewater who come to Sharpsburg, for a non-region tilt beginning at 7:00 weather permitting. UPDATE: Game rained out. New date is Wednesday September 20.
Meanwhile, Lambert and Chapel Hill.will be on the EC docket on Friday at Home Plate in Peachtree City with times of 4:30 and 7:30 respectively.
Whitewater
Those two teams will face each other in between the EC games.
Before getting a look at the three challenges that lie ahead, the Tuesday contest was over almost immediately.
An error allowed Kenadie Cooper to reach and a walk to Katie Taylor brought Olivia Cook to the plate and she responded with a run scoring triple.
A sacrifice fly by Ansley Dufffey not only scored Cook but an error allowed her to reach base as well.
A single by Gunter allowed Duffey to score and and two more runs would later come home to give EC a 6-0 cushion.
A 10-run second inning put the game well out of reach as Gunter had a two-run shot and a a solo shot in the frame while Madison Lecuona had two run single.
Five more runs came across in the top of the third for the final margin as Kylie Ferguson , who tossed a four-hitter against Newnan in a 4-0 junior varsity win, retired Pebblebrook in order for her first varsity win.
As for what's ahead...
So far, the Whitewater Lady Wildcats enter the Wednesday evening game with a 10-3 overall mark and have a 5-0 record in Region 3-AAAAA after a win over Griffin.
The Lady Wildcats were one of the teams on the 2016 EC
schedule that ended their season at the Elite Eight state tournament in Columbus. Participating in the 5A tourenament, Whitewater was eliminated by Starr's Mill.
Lambert
Under head coach Brooks Underwood, the Lambert Lady Longhorns enter the game with a 7-5 record after losses to South and West Forsyth.
In 2016, Lambert finshed 25-5 and participated in the Elie Eight tournament where they lost twice.
Buford and Chapel Hill are the only common opponents for East Coweta on the schedule.
The Longhorns return players at almost every position on the field including senior pitcher Kassidy Krupit who was the Forsyth County Pitcher-of-the-Year.
Chapel Hill
The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers have always given the Lady Indians a contest or two and will bring in a 4-4 record to the Friday night games.
Chapel Hill is coming off of an 11-4 win over West Forsyth in a game played on August 26.
In that game, the Lady Panthers scored five runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
The program seems to like the Sikes family and the current version didn't disappoint as Savannah Sikes was 2-for-3 in the game with three runs scored and three RBIs while pitcher Kira Morgan scattered seven hits over seven frames.
Last year, head coach Mickey Harper led the Lady Panthers to a 26-11 record and played in the AAAA Elite Eight tournament where they were eliminated by Marist.
