Lady Indians smoke Lady Falcons, prep for Wednesday battle at Whitewater

Image result for softballSHARPSBURG-The Region 2-AAAAAAA contest played Tuesday between the East Coweta Lady Indians and Pebblebrook Lady Indians was considered a mismatch coming in and lived to that contention.
The Lady Indians scored 15 runs in the bottom of the first inning and four more in the second inning to come away with a 19-0 victory as Aniston Wright retired all nine batters in the three inning affair.
Using a mixture of reserves and regulars, the Lady Indians did not take the opposition lightly as they batted around twice in the frame.
The scoring began as Ashlynn Gunter scored Carmen Prior from first on an RBI triple and the former scored Hanna Miller reached on an infield error.
A groundout by Caison Byars added to the lead but the highlight of the inning was a grand slam hit by Prior that was an inside the park variety as she added a gear as she rounded second base.
Byars, Caroline Lively and Krys Odum also had RBIs in the frame for the Lady Indians who are 9-2 on the regular season and 2-0 in the region.
In the bottom of the second inning, Prior reached for the third time of the game with a single and Gunter followed with a two-run home run over the left field fence.
The Lady Indians will prepare for a non-region contest Wednesday against the Whitewater Lady Wildcats in Fayetteville with the junior varsity starting play at 5:00.
Going into a Tuesday night game with the Morrow Lady Mustangs, the Lady Wildcats are 7-3 overall and 5-0 in Region 3-AAAAA.
