The hitter known as Kelly Lynch had a double and a home run to account for all of the runs. |
SHARPSBURG-Kelley Lynch provided the offense as well as the pitching as she drove home all of the runs while tossing a one hit, 14 strikeout effort in a 3-0 win over the Alexander Lady Cougars in a non-region softball matchup played Monday.
The win improves the
Lady Indians’ overall record to 19-4 on the season with a non
region home game against the Northgate Vikings slated to begin at
4:30.
After missing an
opportunity to get on the board in the bottom of the second inning,
the Lady Indians were able to register a tally in the bottom of the
third inning as Caroline Lively was hit by a pitch to lead off the
frame.
With one out, Olivia
Davis reached on a walk and a sacrifice bunt by Lulu Warren moved
Davis and courtesy runner Krys Odum into scoring position for Lynch.
Lynch, who tossed a
one-hitter Saturday with 10 strikeouts in a 1-0 loss to Buford,
followed by lining the first pitch she would see into left center
field allowing Odum and Davis to come home to give EC a 2-0 lead.
The cushion proved
to be enough for Lynch who allowed a single in the top of the second
inning but she had her strikeout ball in effect as nine of the next
11 batters went down on strike three.
Meanwhile, Lynch
added to her cause one more time in the game as she led off the
bottom the bottom of the sixth inning by drilling a 1-1 offering over
the center field fence for her first home run of the season.
Lynch made it
through the top of the seventh inning as she retired the side in
order with one batter going down by strikeout.
